Chief stew Francesca Rubi from Below Deck got a little spicy on her Instagram story when she tossed a little shade at charter guest Charley Walters and a few crew members.

Rubi hosted a “Ask Me Anything” on Instagram and didn’t hold back when it came to sharing her most and least favorite aspects of being on the show. She enjoyed that the show is “fast-paced” with new guests funneling in and out of the season. What she didn’t enjoy was Walters.

“The least favorite would have been the obnoxious charter guests,” she said. “Especially the first ones and the way that they spoke to me. You can’t really talk back to charter guests.” Walters and his crew boarded the yacht with a sea of demanding requests from the beginning. He joked about giving Rubi a pass on errors the first day but was going to hold her feet to the fire for the rest of the charter. He also was subjected to fan criticism on social media too.

Meanwhile, stew Elizabeth Frankini chose Walters as her favorite. “As a rebel, Charley,” she said on her “Ask Me Anything” Instagram story.

Francesca Rubi and Elizabeth Frankini have a completely different view of each other’s approach

Someone asked Rubi how she remained calm when Frankini ignored her direction. Frankini and Rubi’s working relationship seems to be moving from simmering to boiling as Rubi believes Frankini is shirking her responsibilities. Frankini on the other hand asserts that Rubi is condescending and passive-aggressive.

Rubi says her management style is to approach situations in a calm manner … initially. “There’s also no time when on charter to train,” she said. “So you kind of have to find a balance between training on the job and also instructing in a nice way.”

“But yes, it was definitely frustrating for me when Elizabeth wasn’t listening to my directions,” she added. “I feel that I was communicating in a very nice and clear manner. Especially about the cutlery drawer.”

Frankini addressed how she stays positive in a negative work environment. “Stay calm,” she said. “Stay humble and transparent. Accept the situation, admit your part, and do your job to the best of what you are capable of.”

Shade or honesty?

Rubi was also asked which deckhand she thought was the most handsome. “I think Eddie [Lucas] and Shane [Coopersmith] are most handsome,” she remarked with a sly grin. “And um … that’s all for now.” Rubi was seen flirting with deckhand James Hough early in the season. Do they have a falling out?

She was also asked if she’d consider working with Frankini or new stew Ashling Lorger again. While Rubi didn’t address Frankini, she gushed over Lorger. “I would pick lovely Ash because she just thinks on her feet,” Rubi said. “And I always know it’s going to be sorted and I don’t need to micromanage. I don’t need to check up on her like you saw with the detox shots in the recent episode.”

“Ash, she just does it,” Rubi added. “She’s just a stew, it’s great.”
