Kate Chastain from Below Deck is concerned that she’s experiencing some bizarre harbinger of doom in her new Florida condo after two birds crashed into one of her windows.

This isn’t the first time Chastain endured a creepy situation in Florida. She rented a historic home during the pandemic and wondered if perhaps it was haunted. Instead of birds, Chastain encountered an overabundance of lovebugs engulfing the windows and doors of the home. She shared videos of the occurrence on her Instagram story and it certainly had some serious Amityville Horror vibes.

Kate Chastain said 2 birds died on her balcony

Now she’s concerned that two dead birds on her balcony are an indication of doom. She recounted that she found a small dead bird on her balcony earlier in the day. Chastain was going to remove the bird but decided to take her dog for a walk.

Chastain said she returned home and was then greeted with a thud coming from the window. “So I’ve only been in my new place for two weeks and I really hope this isn’t a bad omen,” she wrote on her Instagram story. “So I sit down on my couch and that’s when I heard thud!” she recalled. “And I looked and it was a second bird flew into my window.”

She knows that she can add decals to her windows so the birds won’t fly into them. But she wondered why did two birds fly into her window when she is in a condo surrounded by several other units. “I mean up, down, left, right,” she described. “They’ve got windows too. So I’m just wondering if there are any psychics or animal totem meaning experts out there. Because I started Googling it and I stopped Googling it when I saw that it just said like if a bird dies on your doorstep it means impending death.” Yikes.

Chastain posted an Instagram survey joking, “If a third bird flies and dies on my balcony today should I burn the building down?”

Kate Chastain also dealt with a swarm of bugs

Chastain was seriously freaked out last May when a swarm of lovebugs took over the exterior of her home. She shared the experience in her Instagram story too. “I felt like I was living in a [Alfred] Hitchcock movie,” she wrote. “I drove to the store to get things to get rid of them and noticed I didn’t see a single lovebug anywhere else. It was just my house.”

She later concluded the home she rented had to be haunted. “So pretty much all of yesterday I was convinced and freaked out that the house (built in 1890) that I’m renting during COVID isolation is haunted.” Like with the birds, she believed she was the only person who had the massive number of bugs on her windows and doors.

And as fast as the bugs swarmed her home, they suddenly disappeared. “It’s a miracle!” Chastain told her dog Halo. “They’re gone! Except for the bugs on my windowsill still. That’s OK.”
