‘Below Deck Med’: Anastasia Surmava Dishes About Living in Sri Lanka With Boyfriend Hunter
Anastasia Surmava from Below Deck Mediterranean recently revealed she has been dating someone special for more than a year, who also lives in Sri Lanka with her.
Surmava shared a sweet story about how she and her boyfriend Hunter Jakupko met. While viewers didn’t see Surmava in a relationship when she was on the show, Jakupko is not exactly a new boyfriend. She shared on Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast she was with Jakupko last summer too.
She’s actually known him for years. Surmava has shared a number of photos and videos with Jakupko, including an adorable photo from Valentine’s Day. “Happy Valentine’s days from me and mine 💕,” she wrote along with a photo of the couple in a bathtub filled with balloons.
Surmava and Jakupko ended up making out in the back of her car
Surmava shared that she and Jakupko knew each other for quite a while before they started dating. “Well, we met previously when we were both going to the University of Vermont,” she said. “But we really didn’t know each other. But he reached out to me over Instagram this summer and was like, ‘You should let me take you on a date. I see that you’re home in Vermont. I’m here with my friends.'”
“And yeah, I was like, ‘OK fine, we’ll go on a date.’ And yeah, we ended up making out in the back of my car. And the rest is history,” she laughed. “I have a Vermont mountain car so there’s plenty of room for activities.”
She insists that he likely didn’t reach out because she was on Below Deck Mediterranean either. “Hunter is like the OG fan,” she insists. “He’s been my tried and true Instagram follower for like two years before we even met physically. It’s crazy.” She jokes that he stalked her on Instagram in a “really non-creepy” way.
They recently gave each other makeovers
While the couple stayed at home during the pandemic, they found fun and funny ways to stay busy. One way was to give each other makeovers, which Surmava shared on Instagram.
“I LET MY BOYFRIEND DO MY MAKEUP…and then I did his,” she wrote along with a video. “Day 8. Send help. To keep ourselves from fully melting into Netflix we gave each other makeovers. She begins the video by saying they are so bored, they’ve resorted to giving each other makeovers. The video shows Jakupko meticulously applying makeup to Surmava’s face. As he applies the cosmetics to Surmava’s face, Jakupko says, “I could do this professionally!” She ends up with some extensive winged eyeliner and he gets well-blended eyeshadow.
