‘Below Deck Med’: Captain Sandy Plans to Open up on Social Media to Discuss Viewers’ Anger
Some viewers are angry with Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean. The captain hopes to clear the air during an Instagram Live on Tuesday, August 11.
Viewers have lashed out at Yawn on social media, calling her a micromanager and slamming her for being overly critical of her crew. She was dragged especially hard when chef Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran was fired. Lorran was heard sobbing in his bunk after he and Yawn decided it was time for him to leave the boat. Yawn and chief stew Hannah Ferrier have also made it clear their working relationship is over as Ferrier has shaded Yawn on a number of occasions.
Many fans quickly took sides, with the majority siding with Ferrier and Lorran. Although bosun Malia White’s return was initially applauded, she too is now in the hot seat. A few viewers are convinced she, Yawn, and second stew Christine “Bugsy” Drake conspired to replace Ferrier and Lorran with new crew members.
Captain Sandy plans to address the anger
In a bold move, Yawn said she plans to confront the anger instead of hiding from it.
“Hi everyone! I understand some of you are spitfire mad at me,” she shared on Instagram. “I’m giving you the opportunity to jump on Facebook & Instagram live to share your feelings.”
Crew members and Bravo friends shared their support
A few current crew members showed support for Yawn on the thread. Third stew Jessica More and White shared positive emojis. “Nothing but love and respect for you @captainsandrayawn and @maliakpwhite,” deckhand Robert Westergaard commented. Yawn’s girlfriend Leah Shafer also reminded Yawn she is loved.
Tracy Tutor from Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles also commented. “I don’t know whose mad. You are fantastic! All I can say is walk a day in someone’s shoes before making your judgments,” she wrote.
“Sandy, I support you,” Mercedes Javid from Shahs of Sunset wrote. “You are a kind and thoughtful human. Do people know about your efforts in helping children? I sure do! You are always thinking of making a global legacy to help people & cultivate positive changes in the world.
“The chef’s job is a challenging one,” Javid added “He was a little outside his league, but failure doesn’t mean we fail! People learn from their biggest ‘failures’ and make changes as a result of them. He is his whole life ahead of him. ”
