Although Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean wishes chief stew Hannah Ferrier well, she said she’d never work with her again.

“I prefer to work with people I can trust and that’s really it, to be honest,” Yawn told E!. Adding, she has “no regrets” about dismissing Ferrier or how it was handled.

The animosity from the situation was apparent before the season began, but viewers didn’t have insight into why the two were icy to each other. “If someone hates their job and if someone, you know, constantly just goes against authority or… Hannah, I wish the very best,” Yawn told ET. “She admittedly hates yachting, so when you have that mix, it’s hard to stay focused.”

Captain Sandy said the client is her main priority

Emotion or feelings aside, Yawn said the client is always her main priority. “Imagine walking in my shoes, it was challenging,” she told E!. “The Maritime industry has a certain standard…My number one priority is the client.”

“I like mentoring people, so people who are interested in learning from me,” she continued. “I like people who are serious about their careers. Honestly, I’m there because I love what I do and I want people to work for me that love being in the Maritime industry and if they don’t, no love lost.”

Yawn added that going through crew members isn’t entirely uncommon either. “The reality is yachts go through crew,” she said. “Once you find the crew that really gel together than you have a great season and sometimes you just have an off season.”

Hannah Ferrier has regrets but says the situation wasn’t handled well

Ferrier wishes she would have registered the medication in the beginning. “If I could do it all over again, I would’ve just declared them as soon as I came on board,” she told E!. “It was definitely not something that was intentional. I wasn’t trying to hide anything.”

But Ferrier added that Yawn didn’t handle the situation well and didn’t appreciate being cursed at on the dock. “I think it was handled in a very poor way and I think it was handled very unprofessionally,” she said. “The fact that she screamed, ‘F**k you!’ is insane.”

“I think Sandy responds very well to people who kiss a**, and I’m not good at that,” Ferrier told ET earlier this season. “I’m much more of like, I’m here to do my job. I have respect for you as my captain, but at the same time, I do say no to her sometimes, which I don’t think goes down very well.”

As far as learning that Yawn wishes her well and wanted to send her a baby gift, Ferrier said she has no interest in reconnecting with Yawn. “It was very much, ‘Oh, can I grab your address? I’d like to send something for the baby,'” she said. “Unless you’re sending me my career back, I’m really not interested.”
