‘Below Deck Med’: Hannah Ferrier Says She Was Taking Advil When Fans Expressed Suspicions
Hannah Ferrier from Below Deck Mediterranean says she was merely popping Advil in her cabin at night after some fans blew up Twitter wondering why the chief stew was filmed taking medicine on more than one occasion.
“Cray cray. Advil for swollen feet!!! VERY controversial,” Ferrier tweeted in response to a fan’s question. Ferrier is seen taking a pill on more than one occasion in her cabin at the end of her shift. She’s never been filmed taking medication in the past and fans started wondering what was happening.
Fan reactions further heated up following an exchange Ferrier had with third stew Jessica More. More sat in the crew mess wearing a cute bathrobe and Ferrier commented on it. “I like your dressing gown,” Ferrier says to More. More says wearing it makes her feel like she’s not working on a boat.
But Ferrier responds, “So does Valium.” Later Captain Sandy Yawn pulls Ferrier aside and says she seems off and not herself.
Some fans became suspicious with the edit
Several fans noticed that Ferrier was filmed taking medication during more than one charter. But after the Valium comment, some fans felt that showing it was a little too suspicious. In the season trailer, Yawn is seen confronting someone on board who has drugs.
“Hannah can’t possibly be the only person who takes medicine on this boat, right? Why do they only show her taking her meds?” one person tweeted. To which Ferrier responded she was taking Advil for swollen feet. People in the thread felt that production was including the scenes to make her look bad.
Again, another fan felt that the scenes were a deliberate edit. “Why do they show Hannah taking medication every night before bed ? It actually pisses me off and I feel like they are trying to create some kind of story or implication.” Another person tweeted, “I don’t understand why they keep showing Hannah taking her meds, like who cares?! It self care y’all !!”
Ferrier was exhausted too
Viewers watch the crew running all over the boat, constantly up and down the stairs for hours on end. Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever would likely be commonplace when doing such physical work. But Yawn later takes Ferrier aside and asks if she’s feeling alright because she doesn’t seem to be herself.
“I just want to check in with you. How’s it going, are you good?” Yawn asks Ferrier. “You’re different… like, you’re not you.” Ferrier insists she’s fine but in a confessional admits she exhausted. “I’m f**king tired,” she exclaims. Indeed Ferrier does look done as demanding guests pulled her team and the chef all over the boat.
One fan on Twitter may have summed it up best, which Ferrier ret-tweeted. “Hannah reminds me of the end of my days serving.. I was f**king over it… work your ass off for years and years serving assholes. You start to just give no fucks about peoples feelings.”
