‘Below Deck Med’ Season 4: Hannah Ferrier Reveals Why Her Table Décor Game Tanked – ‘They Took Everything off the Boat!’
Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4 stew team revealed one big reason why their table décor game was off. Aesha Scott, Hannah Ferrier, and Anastasia Surmava dished about what really went on that season when Captain Sandy Yawn expressed concern about their less-than-inspired tables. They said the yacht owner cleared the closets of decor, plus they had a very limited budget from production.
‘Below Deck Med’ Season 4 stews had very little table décor to work with
Scott said the table cupboards were bare. “Can I just say, I worked on many a boat with many a décor cupboards, and you guys do have to know that the décor cupboard on this boat was literally the sh*ttest, sparest décor cupboard I have ever seen,” she said on the Dear Reality, You’re Effed podcast. “So part of why we struggled so much with table décor was because literally, all we had were three shelves with nothing.” Surmava recalled having access to some decorative pebbles, but that was about it.
“It’s like how the f**k are we supposed to make table decorations from that?” Scott questioned. Ferrier said the area where they were docked was pretty sparse when it came to finding anything decent for table décor.
The stews had a very limited décor budget
Plus, Ferrier revealed they had a very limited budget for table décor on Below Deck Med Season 4. “We had a budget of 200 Euros to go out and buy new table décor!” she exclaimed. Surmava said most of what she saw in town was pretty tacky. Adding, ‘Hannah will literally throw me off the boat [if she returned with what she could find],” Surmava said.
“Every boat I’ve worked on, you usually have at least a whole, one half of the main salon, all the cupboards packed with decorations,” Scott said. “Like swans and doves and animals. And all these different things and you can just go to town. But there was literally one cupboard with pebbles. And we were like, ‘What the f**k are we suppose to do with them?'”
“I found out afterward, they’d taken it all off the boat,” Ferrier dished about the table décor. Surmava said one table could end up costing about 1,500 Euros. “They knew obviously that we were filming,” Ferrier continued. “So they didn’t want us to go and trash everything. They took everything off the boat! So we had nothing to work with.”
What scared Anastasia Surmava the most on ‘Below Deck Med’ Season 4?
“Sandy said to me like you worked it out in the end when we did that one with the message in the bottle,” Ferrier said. “And we were like yeah, that took like four hours.” Scott added that stew teams don’t have an additional four hours to create a theme. “You’ve got like half an hour,” Scott said.
Surmava then said the last table she set pushed her over the edge. Yawn became frustrated when the table was not set early that morning. Surmava was on breakfast and was told to wake up Ferrier who had stayed up late with the guests. “My scariest moment was not when I quit being a chef,” she said. “When Sandy looked at me dead in the eyes and she said, ‘Go wake up Hannah and Aesha.’ And I was like, ‘No.’ Anything but that!” Surmava said she knew Scott and Ferrier had been up ridiculously late and hated dragging them out of bed for table décor. Guests were not awake but the table was not ready.
