‘Below Deck Mediterranean’: Chef Ben’s Return Would Be a ‘Cold Day in Hell’, Kate Chastain Says
Below Deck’s Kate Chastain all but confirmed what chef Ben Robinson has been saying for several months about his potential return to the franchise. Robinson’s last season was Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4 when he arrived as a relief chef. While he enjoyed working for Captain Sandy Yawn, he said he’s done with yachting, admitting it is a young person’s game. Chastain echoed Robinson’s remarks.
Kate Chastain bets Chef Ben would never return to ‘Below Deck’
Chastain, who now lives in the same condo building as Robinson said there is virtually no chance Robinson would return to the show. “Ben on a boat?” she said in response to the question during an interview with Hollywood Life. “Ben on a yacht? It would have to be a cold day in hell. God, I sounded like Captain Lee [Rosbach] right then! He might … no, actually I would bet money that you would never see him on a yacht again.”
“People can just hire him to be their personal chef in their home,” she continued. “And that’s great.” Robinson said he is probably too old to return to the show. “I think I’m probably a little too old for Below Deck,” the 40-year-old chef said in a June 2021 Instagram Live with Christine “Bugsy” Drake.
But Chef Ben mused about returning for ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Season 6
And while Chastain and Robinson made it clear that he does not plan to return, viewing the current season on Below Deck Galley Talk made Robinson wonder if he should come in to save the day. In fact, Chastain joked that Yawn hadn’t had a good chef since Robinson left after season 4. “Is my phone on silent right now? Because I’m expecting a call from Sandy,” Robinson joked.
Chastain then asked Robinson if he’d ever return to the show. “I would rescue Sandy,” he replied. “Because I love Sandy.” Thus far, Robinson has not returned to Below Deck. Chef Mathew Shea quit but returned the next day. Yawn decided to give him another chance to finish the season with the crew.
Chef Ben may not return to ‘Below Deck’ but he will be working on a boat
While Chastain said Robinson would not return to yachting, he is going to be working on a boat – a Virgin cruise. He recently shared that he plans to offer a cruise experience in March 2022. “‘At Your Bloody Service’ Cruise on Virgin Voyages Announcement,” he posted along with a video on Instagram. “March 23, 2022 – Four Days -Roundtrip Miami. Featuring the Chef Ben Experience: 4 Course Gourmet Meal Chef Ben On-Board Restaurant Takeover, Cocktail Party/Cooking Demo with Chef Ben.”
“The number one question I get from all of you guys, which I always read by the way,” he said. “Is where can I eat your food. And how do I access all of these fun times that I see you posting on social media?” He shared that registration for the unique opportunity is open, along with a link on his Instagram page.
