‘Below Deck Mediterranean’: Terez Lauren’s $25,800 Tip Puts Season 6 Crew on Track to Smash Season 5 Record
Despite the dinner disaster and a few wedding misses, the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6 crew earned a $25,8000 tip from Terez Lauren, setting them up to smash last year’s crew tip record. Lauren unceremoniously left Captain Sandy Yawn with one of the higher tips ever on the show, which likely shocked the crew.
“I just want to let you guys know we’re in the hospitality business,” Lauren said before she departed the boat. “The food was what we were looking forward to the most, and I know [chef] Mat [Shea] you did a great job making that happen. Katie [Flood], you had your girls on point.”
‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Season 5 crew made $171,500 in total tips
Chef Mathew Shea, who left the first night to get an MRI said to the crew during the tip meeting, “I think you all deserve a portion of my tip for the way you pulled it off.” But Yawn wouldn’t hear of it. Each crew member walked away with $1,718. If tips like this continue, the crew will definitely beat last year’s record, which was the highest in Below Deck Med history.
The Below Deck Mediterranean Season 5 crew made the most tip money, scoring $171,500 in total tip money. This ended up being $14,292 each. The crew last year went more of the strong and steady route, without a huge standout tip. In fact, one guest, who left a $17,000 tip was dragged on social media after producers flashed on the screen that $20,000 was the average tip amount.
The ‘Below Deck Med’ Season 3 crew received the lowest tips thus far
Tip amounts made a significant jump between Below Deck Med Season 4 and season 5. The season 4 crew ended up with $155,000 in total tips, so the tip increase was significant.
And while the series began with a total of $152,170 in total tips for the first season crew, tip amounts fluctuated. Season 2 and 3 crews ended the seasons in the $140,000 ranges with Below Deck Med Season 3 thus far getting the lowest in total tips ($142,760).
What could derail ‘Below Deck Mediterranean’ Season 6 tips?
The first Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6 charter guests were more than generous with their tip amount, but the season has yet to be revealed. Like Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2, Below Deck Mediterranean Season 6 was filmed during Covid-19 (coronavirus). Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers watched as Covid derailed two charters for the crew, which had a huge impact on their tip totals.
The Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew had a great season but ended with a total of$106,450 or $11,830 per person for the six-week season. The crew seemed elated that they were able to pull off the season, but one charter almost destroyed the entire season. A guest became ill during the second charter. The crew followed protocols and the guests left the boat after being on Parsifal III for only one night. The guest tested negative for Covid but they never returned to the boat. While they left a small tip, it couldn’t make up for an entire charter.
The entire group of guests never showed up for the final charter because they were all infected with Covid. However, the crew from “neighboring yacht” Lady Michelle took their place for one night. The yacht’s owner also gave the crew a nice tip for the evening.
