‘Below Deck’ Season 9 Captain Sean Was a Charter Captain of My Seanna
Below Deck Season 9 flipped the script when Captain Lee Rosbach is sidelined and a new captain has to take over when the season kicks off. Rosbach is heard telling first mate Eddie Lucas that he has “a condition” and can’t begin the season with the rest of the crew. So another captain has to step in and it turns out that Captain Sean Meagher was the charter captain for the Below Deck Season 9 boat, My Seanna.
Captain Sean from ‘Below Deck’ Season 9 knows My Seanna very well
Meagher was the perfect person to step in for Rosbach since he knows the boat extremely well. When My Seanna wasn’t starring on Below Deck, she was under Meagher’s command. Meagher was featured as the charter captain on the My Seanna charter page, plus he showed off the boat in off-season Instagram posts.
He spent the Christmas holiday in the Bahamas aboard My Seanna. “Merry Christmas from MY Seanna from a deserted island in the Bahamas,” Meagher posted in Dec. 2020. Meagher also shared a hilarious video of what went down behind the scenes with the My Seanna crew on New Year’s Eve. “Bringing in the New Year MY Seanna style,” he captioned the video. Meagher also shared a photo of My Seanna as filming was about to begin. “MY Seanna in St Kitts! Looks sunny but this is just a quick reprieve from the rain and 30kts of breeze!” he wrote.
Who is Captain Sean from ‘Below Deck’?
Below Deck viewers will get to know Meagher, who is described as a very “hands-on” captain. As a charter manager, he takes his business very seriously, always putting the customer first. Meagher is from Cape Cod, Massachusetts and his love for boating and the ocean began at a young age.
His travels have taken him throughout the world, as the captain of many other vessels. “On the MY Latitude, he undertook 3 historic journeys,” according to his bio. “In 2014 He led Latitude, a robust though non-iceclassed design by Vripack, through the Northwest passage (east to west) and was the 216th boat in history to do so. Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen was the first in 1906. In 2015 Captain Meagher led a second expedition through the passage this time west to east was the 9th boat in history to ever do so and was awarded Boat Internationals Voyager Award.”
“In 2017 Latitude headed to New Zealand where she underwent an extensive refit. Captain Meagher was the lead designer and Latitude was nominated along with Vripack for a third Boat International award,” his bio continued.
Captain Sean brokered the sale of My Seanna
Meagher is also a yacht broker and revealed that My Seanna was for sale. “The iconic MY Seanna is available for showings in Fort Lauderdale,” he shared on Instagram in May. “In 2020 she underwent an extensive $5,000,000.00 refit at LMC.” Meagher included an extensive list of updates and added, “Priced to move at $21,900,000.00.”
He later revealed in July that the boat was sold. Someone joked in the Instagram feed, “What is the starring role in Below Deck that did it?”
