‘Below Deck’: Snarky Tweet Turns Into a List of Who Is in Kate Chastain’s Inner Circle
Who does Kate Chastain consider to be a close friend from Below Deck? A snarky tweet that meant to be a dig ended up being a friendship thread when Chastain turned the comment around.
While she listed Below Deck crew only, some people added their names in the comment section, which kept the chief stew on her toes. Some people who made the list were surprises. Especially one crew member who told Showbiz Cheat Sheet he no longer hears from Chastain.
Others were crew members she had a tough relationship with on the show, but are now considered to be friends. One person visibly missing from the list was chief stew, Hannah Ferrier from Below Deck Mediterranean. Chastain recently shared the stews used to be friends until she said Ferrier talked behind her back.
This sarcastic comment turned into a ‘who’s who’ of Chastain’s friends
A Twitter user lobbed a comment, which was really a dig at the chief stew. “@Kate_Chastain Question do you have a Best Friend or any girlfriends because if you act the way u are on Below Deck u dont have either. You act like someone licked the Cherry off the top of your ice cream You must get be very lonely U should Lighten up you will get less wrinkles.”
Instead of smacking back, Chastain turned it into one of her signature calm but spicy remarks. “What a great question Winnie! Yes I do have a few close friends: do you know any of them? -Amy from seasons 2 &3 -Kat season 2 -chef Ben -chef Matt -Jennice season 2 – Connie season 3 – Jen Howell season 5 -Josiah, Laura And Rhylee season 6 -Courtney season 7.”
The friendship blossoming between Chastain and third stew Courtney Skippon already seems apparent. The two appear to share a similar sense of humor and appreciate the finer things in life. A few podcasters and reporters piped in on the thread, humorously inquiring why they weren’t added to the list. “What about me?” podcaster Kate Casey asked. Then reporter Dave Quinn added, “You misspelled “Dave Quinn” on one of those :)” Chastain claimed she just ran out of characters. Producer Emerson Collins commented, “WE ARE (IN MY MIIIIIIND!).” Chastain seemed to agree.
Some names were surprises
Chastain had a contentious working relationship with stews Jen Howell from season five and Amy Johnson during their first season working together. While Johnson and Chastain seemed to come together during season three, Johnson was often in tears during Chastain’s first season on the show. Chastain and Howell also had a tense relationship on the boat, but now seemed to have formed a fun friendship after the season ended.
Chastain’s relationship with second stew Josiah Carter was an inspirational friendship for fans. Many wanted Carter back by her side for season seven. But when Showbiz Cheat Sheet spoke to Carter in June, he said he hadn’t heard from Chastain in months.
Carter said he’d message Chastain but she’d either leave his message unopened or simply not respond. “Maybe she’s just busy,” he said. “I thought Kate was really cool and fun. But I don’t know. But no one is too busy to reply, ‘I’m good how are you?’”
