‘Below Deck’: These 2 Yachties Grew Up Together
Below Deck cast members often know each other before the show even films. The yachting world is small, and it’s not uncommon for stews, deckhands, and others to have already worked together prior to filming. However, it’s less common for yachties to know each other from a young age — but two recent stars of the show actually grew up together.
‘Below Deck’ stars often work together, either on past seasons or prior to filming
When Below Deck stars meet one another 24 hours before their first charter, it’s not uncommon for a few of them to have worked together in the past. On the most recent season of Below Deck, Eddie Lucas was a familiar face; he worked under Captain Lee during the show’s third season.
The same goes for Below Deck Med. Chief stew Hannah Ferrier has been in the industry for a number of years, and to her surprise, bosun Malia White arrived on the ship to kick off the show’s fifth season. White and Ferrier have had somewhat of a rocky past, but crew members often reconnect with old friends on the ship as well. Jessica More and Alex Radcliffe had previously worked together and were shocked and excited to see one another aboard Captain Sandy Yawn’s ship in season 5.

Eddie Lucas recently revealed that he grew up with Parker McCown
To fans’ surprise, there are two yachties who have known each other far longer than their careers have stretched. Below Deck Bosun Eddie Lucas revealed that he’s known Parker McCown of Below Deck Sailing Yacht for years.
While appearing on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Lucas was asked if he’s been watching any of the various Below Deck shows. “I have watched some of it. I’ve watched Sailing,” he said, per Bravo. “It was funny, actually. Parker [McCown] from Sailing Yacht, we grew up together.” Cohen was surprised to learn that two yachties have known each other for years.
“I’m quite a bit older than he is,” Lucas continued, “but I’ve known Parker for a long time, so it was fun kind of watching him and how he handled himself on the season.” Lucas said he and McCown talked before McCown started filming, though McCown “took none of the advice I gave him,” according to Lucas.
Fans are already excited about Lucas’ new season on the show
Lucas recently reappeared on Below Deck after leaving fans on a sour note back in season 3. (Lucas cheated on his girlfriend with third stew Rocky Dakota, which received harsh feedback from Captain Lee.) Still, Lucas is back, and he said that things are good between him and Captain Lee after season 3’s ending.
Fans are excited about the new season, though it’s missing chief stew Kate Chastain, who left the show after six seasons. Still, her replacement, Francesca Rubi, has so far received positive reviews after episode one.
