Ben Affleck Allegedly Couldn’t ‘Fake’ Jennifer Lopez’s Fairytale Marriage
Jennifer Lopez’s recent divorce with Ben Affleck might not have been too much of a surprise given all the clues. Despite the cracks in their marriage, however, it was reported that Lopez was determined to make her relationship with Affleck work. But Affleck couldn’t fake the happy life the way Lopez might’ve wanted to.

TMZ reported that Lopez and Affleck divorced on Aug. 20. The two shared that they had too many irreconcilable differences to make their marriage work, although it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Sources told The Sun not too long ago that Lopez was willing to keep her marriage with Affleck alive despite their growing disagreements. But how they handled their stresses was yet another factor that might’ve played into their separation.
“When Ben’s having a problem, you can see it all over his face and he does want to talk about it and hash it out, but it can be exhausting,” the source said. “That’s not the world Jennifer lives in most of the day. She’s all about winning, not pain, and she’s still determined to have this fairy tale ending with Ben, at any cost.”
The source indicated that Lopez might’ve been better at saving face than her ex, who could be more deliberately transparent with his emotions.
“When he’s falling apart, everybody around him knows and everybody faces a loyalty test if they’re not comforting and consoling him,” the source continued.
“He’s genuinely grateful for his sobriety and I don’t think he’s falling off the wagon again anytime soon,” the source added. “But he’s still got the weight of the world hanging over his shoulders every day and Jennifer doesn’t, despite the recent bad fortune with her tour and new music. She doesn’t ‘do’ misery, at least not around the people closest to her.”
With the couple not able to reach commond ground, however, their divorce was said to affect Lopez more than it would Affleck.
“Ben has tens of millions of dollars and a dozen more films ready to make in the next few years. Ending this relationship is not going to destroy his life,” they said. “But Jennifer wants to make this work and wants to ride off into the sunset with this man, faults and all.”

According to another source, what made the ordeal even more infuriating for Lopez was that Affleck was the one who reignited their spark.
“He has humiliated her. He was the one who initiated getting back together,” they told Page Six.
Lopez has mentioned in the past that Affleck contacted her first through e-mail. After the two began talking to each other more frequently, they rediscovered their passion for each other after a couple of dates.
Affleck took their relationship even further by proposing to Lopez, which she gushed about on social media.
“Saturday night while at my favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed,” Lopez posted according to Entertainment Weekly. “I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again, I was quite literally speechless and he said, ‘is that a yes?’ I said YES of course that’s a YES.”
“I was smiling so big and tears were coming down my face, feeling so incredibly happy and whole,” she added. “It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could’ve ever imagined … just a quiet Saturday night at home, two people promising to always be there for each other. Two very lucky people. Who got a second chance at true love.”
