Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage was a bad idea, but that isn’t the former couple’s only mistake. According to reports, Neither Ben Affleck nor Jennifer Lopez were happy with the very expensive house they bought following their nuptials. It was a compromise they are now trying to unload. While the couple coughed up just over $60 million for the property, reports suggest it is a house that neither one of the superstars really wanted. They disliked the home for completely different reasons.

Jennifer Lopez didn’t care for the style of the house

Jennifer Lopez agreed to buy the large compound in Wallingford Estates with Ben Affleck, but she wasn’t happy. According to insiders, Lopez only agreed to the property because of its size and amenities, but she never loved the look or style of the compound. The insider alleges Lopez prefers more traditional home styles. Now that Affleck is out of the picture, she has no need for the property.

While Lopez has an expansive real estate portfolio that includes properties on both the East and West Coasts, she has a penchant for more traditional architecture. Her Hamptons estate is conventional, while her Miami home has Spanish influences. Lopez has also owned homes in the French country and other classic architectural styles. While her portfolio is expansive, she’s largely shied away from modern homes. The $68 million purchase can be described as modern in architectural style.

Ben Affleck detested the neighborhood they lived in

While Lopez reportedly objected to the style of the home she and Affleck bought, he apparently hated its location. According to the New York Post, Affleck found it difficult to navigate the traffic to see his children, all of whom were living with their mother, Jennifer Garner. Garner and the Affleck kids live in Brentwood, about seven miles from his Wallingford Estates complex.

Affleck has since moved on and laid down plenty of money to get something that better fits his needs. According to People, Affleck paid $20 million for a new Los Angeles home. The details of its location remain unknown, but Affleck reportedly rented a property in Brentwood after splitting from Lopez. It’s likely that he’s chosen to buy in the neighborhood as well. Affleck’s children, Fin and Samuel, live at home with their mother, Jennifer Garner. The couple’s oldest child, Violet Affleck, recently began her first year at Yale.

What is happening with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s house now?

Neither Ben Affleck nor Jennifer Lopez appear interested in keeping the home from their doomed marriage. The couple listed the house and are hoping to profit from its sale. While the duo paid just over $60 million for the property in 2023, they have listed it for a staggering $68 million. Real estate experts don’t think they’ll be profiting off the property, though.

Newsnation spoke with a real estate expert familiar with the West Coast market. The investor told the publication that Lopez and Affleck’s love nest is considered “garish” and doesn’t fit its neighborhood, which is not highly sought-after. They went on to claim the home was too big and too flashy to appeal to many buyers. They believe the house is worth between $40 and $50 million, not the $68 million Ben and Jen are asking.
