“Although the divorce was just finalized, Jen has considered herself single for a long time,” a source told People at the time. “Dating is just a natural step. Jen will always care about Ben and help him be the best dad. She was very ready to move on, though.”
A source told In Touch Weekly in 2020 that Affleck had “bittersweet” feelings about Garner moving on. “It was very hard for Ben at first, even though he’s the one that pretty much walked away from the marriage,” the source said. “It was a reality check that he wasn’t prepared for.”
The source added that seeing Garner “moving on with her life [and] dating John” “pushed Ben to move on with his.”
So, what does Affleck think of Miller now? The same source said that Affleck grew to like Miller and thinks Garner and his kids are lucky to have him in their lives. “Ben likes John now,” the insider alleged. “He truly wants Jen to be happy. … It wasn’t always like that. It took Ben a long time to look at the situation differently. … Now, he says his kids and Jen are lucky to have John in their lives.”

“John doesn’t like sharing Jen, and there is a divide when it comes to her and Ben,” an insider told DailyMail.com in August 2024. “He wishes it wasn’t like that because he understands they are a family, but it gets to him like it would anyone.”
The source added that Miller has had a “tough” time dealing with Garner, who is Affleck’s most extensive emotional support system. “John is looking forward to Ben and J.Lo’s split being done so he can start focusing on Jen,” the source added. “Bumpy roads recently are looking to be smoothed out.”
