While this should mean less stress for both parties, Affleck was spotted fleeing to his first ex-wife’s home amid the Pacific Palisades wildfires ripping through Southern California. Affleck retained a great relationship with Jennifer Garner post-split and seemingly does not hesitate to head to her place when in need. Here’s what to know.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner live close to each other in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. Affleck previously lived in Beverly Hills with Jennifer Lopez, but he moved into a Brentwood rental before she officially filed for divorce in August 2024. He then bought a $20 million mansion near Garner. Garner and Affleck spend a lot of time together despite their status as a divorced couple, as they share three kids: Violet, 19, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
While Affleck recently bought his five-bedroom, six-bathroom residence, he headed to Garner’s place in early January 2025 due to the Pacific Palisades wildfires. Photos from TMZ show Affleck looking distraught as he sits in his car. It’s unclear if he went to Garner’s place to seek refuge or to check on her and their kids.
Before heading to Garner’s place in January 2025, Affleck spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with Garner and their children.

Ben Affleck frequently seems to confide in Jennifer Garner. Before Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce, several reports suggested that he looked to Garner for guidance. Garner is in a relationship with John Miller, and Miller allegedly knows how close Garner and Affleck remained post-divorce.
A source told In Touch Weekly that Garner knows many fans of her and Affleck would love for the exes to rekindle their flame.
“They’re not getting back together,” the insider said. “Jen laughs off those rumors, even though that’s the Hollywood ending everyone hopes for.”
The source added that Affleck remains “very supportive” of Garner’s relationship with Miller.
“Ben’s single and just taking life one day at a time,” the insider continued. “They’re far from perfect, but Jen and Ben are a great example of how co-parenting should work.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck can finally put their two-year marriage behind them. The exes finalized their divorce after 20 weeks and no prenuptial agreement. Affleck and Lopez will keep their individual assets and split the eventual sale of their Beverly Hills mansion.
A source previously told People that Lopez was doing as well as possible following her divorce filing. “It’s been incredibly difficult for her that Ben chose to pull away from their marriage and move on with his life, leaving her behind,” the source alleged. “She didn’t want a divorce. She wanted to figure things out. They love each other. Jennifer is not the type to just give up. It’s been almost torture for her to wait around.”
After finalizing the split, another source told People that Lopez felt ready to “close the door” on the “crazy chapter” that was her marriage to Affleck.
“The fairy tale she was promised turned out to be a nightmare in the end,” the source said.
