Ben Affleck Just Gushed Over Jennifer Lopez’s Beauty in a New Interview
There is a ton of frenzy around Jennifer Lopez and her relationship with baseball legend Alex Rodriguez. However, there was a time when Lopez and Ben Affleck were the hottest couple in Hollywood. In the early 2000s, the actor and the singer were joined at the hip.
The pair were on every red carpet together. They had an ill-fated film, Gigli together, and Lopez’s massive pink diamond from the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star was all anyone could talk about. In fact, the pair boldly showcased their love in the Hustlers actor’s music video for “Jenny from the Block.”
Unfortunately, the duo did not get the fairytale that everyone had hoped for; they never said: “I do.” However, almost 20 years after their breakup, Affleck is still gushing over Lopez’s beauty.
Why did Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck breakup?
Lopez and Affleck were spotted together publically for the first time in July 2002. It was at a moment when tabloid culture and our collective obsession with celebrities were on the rise. From that moment on the pair could not go anywhere without being photographed, followed, and hounded. “I think Jen and I made a mistake in that we fell in love; we were excited and maybe too accessible,” Affleck said in 2008 via Latina. “I don’t think either of us anticipated the degree to which it would take on a world of its own.”
In fact, the pair had to call off their initial Sept. 2003 wedding plans because the details leaked to the media, and they knew it was going to be a circus and not the intimate and loving ceremony they wanted. However, by then, the couple already had some cracks in their relationship. Affleck was more of a party boy, and Lopez was ultra-organized and a homebody. In the end, they never made it down the aisle.
The pair realized they were not a long-term match and they went their separate ways.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez still keep in touch
Though their split stung in the beginning, Affleck and Lopez have no ill feelings toward one another. Inf act, they still keep in touch. “I respect her,” Affleck told The Hollywood Reporter in 2012. “I like her. She’s put up with some stuff that was unfair in her life, and I’m really pleased to see her successful.”
In a Jan. 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, Awards Chatter, the Gone Girl actor got candid about the abuse and racism that he saw Lopez endure while they were a couple.
“People were so f***ing mean about her; sexist, racist,” he said. “Ugly, vicious s*** was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said. Now it’s like, she’s lionised and respected for the work she did, where she came from, what she accomplished- as well she f***ing should be.”

It appears that Affleck has nothing but respect for the singer/actor and he even recently praised her beauty. For the May 2021 issue of InStyle, people who’ve known Lopez including Affleck and her ex-husband, Marc Anthony shared their thoughts on the Bronx-born singer’s powerhouse career.
“Where are you keeping the fountain of youth?” Affleck asked. “Why do you look the same as you did in 2003 and it kind of looks like I’m in my 40s…at best? She remains, to this day, the hardest-working person I’ve come across in this business. She has great talent, but she has also worked very hard for her success, and I’m so happy for her that she seems, at long last, to be getting the credit she deserves.”
Lopez was flattered by her ex’s compliment saying,”Ben is funny! He still looks pretty good too.”
