Ben Affleck Looks ‘Miserable’ Because of the ‘Constant Questions’ About Jennifer Lopez, Insider Says
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez officially called it quits on their marriage of two years. The couple first fell in love in the early 2000s and ended their engagement in 2004. In 2021, they rekindled their flame and fell back in love, finally tying the knot in 2022. Affleck has a reputation for looking upset and uncomfortable in public. Here’s what a source said regarding why he looks “miserable” — and it has everything to do with the media’s treatment of his divorce.
Ben Affleck is ‘not miserable,’ a source says — but there’s a reason he looks upset
Bennifer fans couldn’t believe it when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez fell back in love after ending their engagement nearly 20 years prior. While Affleck and Lopez loved each other deeply twice in their lifetimes, they realized quickly during their marriage that they weren’t meant to stay together forever. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, and numerous sources and insiders have told media outlets why the couple gave up on their high-profile romance. Unfortunately for Affleck, he didn’t appreciate all of the media attention.
“Ben is not miserable,” a source told DailyMail.com in November 2024. “The reason he may always look it when he is out and about is that photogs are constantly asking about ‘J.Lo this’ and ‘J.Lo that.'”
The source added that Affleck is “over the constant questions about her,” as “he just wants to move on … hence the divorce.” Additionally, the divorce “is dragging on,” the insider continued, “which has him a bit stressed.”
The insider noted that Affleck is happy that Lopez appears to be doing so well in the public eye after she filed for divorce. “Ben is glad she is focusing on herself,” they continued. “He is glad she’s doing red carpets and looking glamorous.”
The ‘Argo’ actor explained why the public thinks he’s ‘always mad’
Ben Affleck reflected on his facial expressions while speaking on Kevin Hart’s Peacock talk show, Hart to Heart.
“People see me and they’re like, ‘Why is this dude always mad?’” Affleck said. “Because somebody has their camera sticking in my face. And I’m like, ‘OK, here we go.’”
While Affleck doesn’t appreciate paparazzi attention when he’s by himself, it irritates him even more when he’s out with his kids.
“What I’d actually like to do is do something much more definitive than just look at you (with a frown),” the actor continued. “And I may be angry that you’re around my child. … I don’t notice you. But with my children, that’s a different thing.”
Ben Affleck reflected on how he’s ‘one errant remark away from being canceled’
Fans know Ben Affleck for keeping his private life out of the public eye. However, he knows what the public says about him, his relationships, and his business decisions. He spoke with Matt Damon to Deadline about their production company, Artists Equity, and their new film, Small Things Like These. Affleck explained how everyone in showbusiness is “subject” to “insecurity,” which often worries him.
“Whether we’re actors or directors or writers, the phone could stop ringing for us,” Affleck explained. ” … I don’t know when this might go away. I’m one errant remark away from being canceled, or I’m one movie bomb away from never working again, and I’ve got a family and so forth. Naturally, people seek to do what’s in their best interest.”
