Now, according to a source, Affleck is hesitating on filing the divorce papers because he doesn’t want to embarrass his wife.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may have tried to save their marriage, but sources claim there’s no going back now. While the couple only tied the knot two years ago, their stark lifestyle differences put them at odds. Affleck and Lopez spent much of the summer apart, and insiders close to the couple claim that they can’t seem to make their romance work despite still having a lot of love for each other.
“They finalized the divorce papers with her a month ago but are waiting for the right time to drop them,” a source told DailyMail.com. “At that time, they will release a joint statement that will say how they have much love for each other and how they fought to make it work but couldn’t.”
Another source told Page Six that Affleck hasn’t filed the paperwork because Lopez is “furious” and “humiliated” over the split.
“He’s humiliated her because she made a big deal that he’s the love of her life,” the insider claimed. “They just had two weddings two years ago. This is some kind of a record; they’re not young kids.”
The source added that Lopez is also upset that their kids are involved. She has twins, Max and Emme, from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony. Affleck has three kids, Violet, Fin, and Samuel, with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
“There are five kids involved in this,” the source continued. “She knew they were going to blend families. She has not fully accepted it is over.”
The couple allegedly won’t speak to each other
Aside from Ben Affleck allegedly dragging his feet on the divorce to save Jennifer Lopez from public embarrassment, the couple allegedly won’t speak to each other. According to TMZ, Lopez and Affleck won’t talk in person or over the phone regarding the next steps in their marriage. The couple also hasn’t hired divorce lawyers. Instead, they’re allegedly going through their business managers to help with the financials.
The publication noted that Lopez and Affleck will eventually hire divorce lawyers, but they want to reach a settlement before then.
Lopez and Affleck are currently trying to sell their $68 million Beverly Hills mansion. The couple publicly listed the home for sale in July 2024 after failing to sell privately. Affleck closed escrow on a $20 million LA property on Lopez’s birthday, which she spent on the East Coast without him.
“Ben’s decision to move into his own home is the final insult,” a source told RadarOnline. “J.Lo had been holding onto hope that there could be a reconciliation if they were to spend some time apart, but this is like a stab in the heart.”
Jennifer Lopez returned to LA after spending months in New York
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck spent their summers on opposite coasts in 2024. While Affleck remained in LA to stay near his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their three kids, Lopez spent the warmer months in the Hamptons in New York. She had her 55th Bridgerton-themed birthday bash without Affleck in attendance.
As of early August 2024, Lopez seems to have returned to the West Coast. DailyMail.com reports she was seen touring a Beverly Hills mansion after news broke that Affleck bought a new home. She was seen out with Emme, 16, without her wedding ring.
