Jennifer Garner has a lot of compassion for those affected by the LA wildfires. While Garner’s home was spared, she spoke to MSNBC about the massive loss for her friends and community. Additionally, she lost a friend in the fires, which she noted she wasn’t ready to fully open up about at the time.
“I did lose a friend, and for our church, it’s really tender,” Garner said. “So, I don’t feel like I should talk about her yet. But yeah, I did lose a friend who did not get out in time.”
“My heart bleeds for my friends,” Garner continued. ” … I can just write out a list of 100 friends who lost their homes. I feel almost guilty walking through my house. Just, what can I do? How can I help? What can I offer?”
An insider told DailyMail.com that Garner is busy taking action every single day in her community, though her friends want her to “relax.”
“Jen has been dedicating every waking hour to helping her friends who have lost everything in the fires,” the insider alleged. “She is helping her church, and she has been going nonstop. She needs to take some time to relax, but that is not how Jen is — not when she is passionate about something. The fires took a big toll on her, and she lost a friend.”
The source added that the fires came “on the heels” of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s split, “which wore her out.”
“To Ben, Jen is superwoman,” the insider continued. “She has saved him many times, and there is nothing in the world he would not do for her.”
While Affleck sees everything Garner is doing for her community, the source noted he’s “not super concerned for her,” as he knows her capabilities. However, if she needs him, “he would drop everything to make sure she is OK.”

Ben Affleck moved into a new home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles following his and Jennifer Lopez’s split. During the LA wildfire evacuations, Affleck headed to Jennifer Garner’s place nearby. Thankfully, Affleck’s home still stands.
“Ben’s home is still under evacuation order, but he feels so grateful his property is safe for the time being,” an insider told Page Six in January 2025.
The source added that Affleck also had a desire to help his community members negatively affected by the flames. “Ben knows many people who unfortunately lost their homes,” they continued. “He has seen a lot of devastation, and it’s beyond tragic. … Ben is reaching out to anybody he can to help.”
The exes ‘developed a mutual respect and a deeper level of friendship’ post-divorce, a source says
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s friendship post-divorce has the media wondering what’s going on with the exes. While Garner has been dating her boyfriend, John Miller, since 2018, she appeared to spend more time with Affleck than ever in 2024. Despite what outsiders may think, Garner and Affleck are just good friends. They intend on keeping their platonic relationship solid for the good of their three kids.
“Ben and Jen are closer than ever,” a source told Life & Style in December 2024. “They’ve developed a mutual respect and a deeper level of friendship they didn’t have before.”
The source added that Garner “has watched” Affleck “evolve” over time. “She’s seen the progress and the transformation, and it’s changed how she feels about him.” As for Affleck, he knows Garner “was the best thing to ever happen to him.”
