Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have reportedly had marital struggles for months. While they tied the knot two years ago, several sources have recently claimed that issues arising from finances, parenting, and work-life balance are causing the couple to rethink their marriage. The couple reportedly lives apart, with Lopez living in their $60 million mansion and Affleck living in a nearby $100,000 monthly rental.
A source told Fox News Digital that Affleck once hoped to save his marriage. However, he’s become increasingly disengaged from the process. “Ben doesn’t seem as invested in trying to repair the relationship as he was before,” the source claimed. “He seems to have pulled back and is trying less and less. He’s really thrown himself into work and is focused on that right now more than his marriage.”
The source added that Affleck and Lopez committed to marriage counseling sessions to resolve their issues. However, Affleck skipped a few sessions. “Ben and Jennifer have been in couple’s counseling working on their marriage,” the source revealed. “As of recent, Ben hasn’t been as committed to it as he was before and has even skipped some sessions.”
Another source claims Ben Affleck is ‘checked out’ of their marriage
Sources close to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez discussed where the couple stands in 2024. A source shared that Affleck feels “worn down” by Lopez’s work commitments, which included her This Is Me … Live tour. Lopez announced at the end of May 2024 that she was canceling her tour to spend more time with friends and family.
“He’s been checked out,” the source told Us Weekly, adding that the couple is on “two completely different pages most of the time. The honeymoon phase has worn off.”
Yet another source told Page Six that Affleck considers his marriage to Lopez a “fever dream” he wishes to wake up from.
“If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would,” the source said. “He feels like the last two years was just a fever dream, and he’s come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.”
The couple wants ‘to put their kids first’
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reportedly have different opinions regarding how they wish to raise their kids. Affleck has three kids with his ex, Jennifer Garner. Lopez has twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
“They have fought about their differences on what they give their kids and how to raise them at times,” an insider told Fox News Digital. “Both sets of kids live lavish lifestyles, but they don’t see how to treat money the same when it comes to their kids.”
Another insider told People that Lopez finds the current situation “heartbreaking,” but she and Affleck remain united in putting their kids first. “Jennifer and Ben have always been very family-oriented,” the insider added.
