Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were excited to blend families when they tied the knot in 2022. Lopez has twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony: Max and Emme Muniz, 16. Affleck has three kids with Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18; Fin, 15; and Samuel, 12.
After Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck, an insider told People that Affleck wasn’t putting in effort to see Lopez’s kids despite Lopez calling him a “great dad.” The source said Affleck is “close to his three kids” but “has not been in touch with her kids.” Meanwhile, Lopez tries to stay close to Affleck and Garner’s three kids.
Another source told People that Affleck became more of a “family man” as a result of his marriage to Lopez. However, it’s unclear how much of a “family man” he is to her teenage twins now.
“Family is very important to both of them and together they were family people — and the connection doesn’t end,” the source said.
While Lopez and Affleck seem to navigate their blended family differently through this challenging time, additional sources explained that both parties still consider the kids their No. 1 priority.

Ben Affleck bought a new $20 million mansion in LA before he and Jennifer Lopez officially ended their marriage. A source told Closer Weekly that he has an “open-door policy” on his home for Lopez’s kids.
“Ben says his home has an open-door policy for Emme and Max, and I’m sure Jennifer will do the same when she finds her new home,” the source explained.
Unfortunately, all five kids allegedly saw Affleck’s huge purchase as “the end” of their blended family. Affleck’s kids have a close relationship with Lopez’s kids. Emme and Fin have a particularly close bond.
“The biggest casualty of their breakup are the kids, of course,” the source said. “Ben’s children love Jennifer, and her kids adore Ben. The new home is bittersweet because the kids see it as an end of their blended family. All the kids have bonded.”

Jennifer Lopez has a close relationship with Ben Affleck’s kids, especially with his daughter, Violet. Lopez and Violet were spotted shopping together in the Hamptons over the summer while Affleck stayed in LA. Violet also appeared to make a statement by wearing an iconic dress Lopez once wore.
A source said Lopez aimed to spend “quality time” with the Affleck kids before her divorce filing.
“Just because she’s not with Ben doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care about his kids,” a source told People. “She always cared about them. She spent months looking for the perfect house for their blended family last year. Now, when she’s back in LA, she wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes, and Violet is off to college.”
Another source said Violet feels heartbroken over her father and stepmother splitting.
“Violet does wish her dad Ben would stay with J.Lo,” the source alleged to DailyMail.com. “She wasn’t living in their house and did not see the extent of the breakdown. But she got extremely close to J.Lo over the past couple of years, and it broke her heart when they split.”
