Ben Affleck debuted a new look as he and Jennifer Lopez went through their divorce. The actor stepped out in Santa Monica, California, in a light blue button-up shirt and black slacks. Photos from Page Six show he appeared to dye his beard and mustache a darker shade of brown, giving his facial hair a fuller look.
Affleck fans have seen a similar look from him before. In July 2020, he dyed his hair and facial hair the same color. Unfortunately, celebrity hair colorist Michael Canalé wrote to Page Six Style at the time that the darker hair “aged” Affleck.
“It ages him a little bit; it’s a little too dark along with the beard, and it looks unnatural,” Canalé wrote. “A professional colorist wouldn’t have made it so matte.”
The celebrity stylist noted that Affleck could’ve “eased out 20-50% of the gray” in his hair to make him look 10 years younger. But the dark hair didn’t quite work. “Under certain lighting, especially in film, the semi-permanent won’t alternate the natural base color,” Canalé continued. “He would have been better off using a semi-permanent to avoid flashing warm tones or what they call ‘golfer’s red.’”

Ben Affleck debuted a new look in August 2024 before Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce. He wore his hair in a fauxhawk and donned a leather motorcycle jacket over a Red Hot Chili Peppers T-shirt. A source told In Touch Weekly that Lopez viewed the look as “so lost and kind of pathetic.”
“She’s saying this clearly shows that Ben is clearly not in the right headspace and that he hasn’t been for some time,” the insider noted. “In her view, he looks so lost and kind of pathetic right now. It’s obvious to her that this is a cry for help, but her hands are tied because he’s totally ghosted her.”
It appears Affleck didn’t stick with the fauxhawk hair for long. In October 2024, he sported a short haircut to match his freshly dyed facial hair.

Dating rumors swirled around Ben Affleck after news of his and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce. Photos showed him hanging out with Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy. While Affleck’s reps denied any romance between Kennedy and Affleck, an insider told In Touch Weekly that Affleck intends on hitting the gym to change his physique and “buff up” for future dating prospects.
“Ben’s always had this Achilles heel when it comes to his workouts – he keeps up with his cardio and lifts weights at home to keep his upper body tight, mainly because he’s so afraid of letting his pecs turn saggy …,” a source claimed. “But squatting and leg work isn’t his deal at all. He hates it.”
However, Affleck is allegedly turning a new leaf because the “divorce has him wanting to really buff up and get into the best possible shape – especially now that he’s back on the dating scene.”
