Bethenny Frankel Talks About Her Breakup With Paul Bernon
Former Real Housewives of New York star Bethenny Frankel and film producer/real estate executive Paul Bernon recently ended their 2-year relationship. Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show via video, Frankel touched on the subject and emphasized that she’s in a good place.
‘Not everything has to end badly’
Frankel began dating Bernon in the fall of 2018. Keeping her millions of followers updated on her life, Bernon was often featured in her posts. When the two quietly split earlier this month, it came as somewhat of a surprise to her fans.
“You know, not everything works out,” the former reality star told DeGeneres, according to People. “So many people have tried to define my life — our lives — with, ‘When are you getting engaged? When are you having a baby? When are you getting married?’ And I’ve just realized more in life, with people being more open and honest about their lives and what they want, that everything doesn’t have to sort of end in a blue box and a bow.”
The Skinnygirl mogul had nothing negative to say about Bernon or their time together.
“We’ve had a great, great relationship and I’m really happy,” Frankel revealed. “Not everything has to end badly, some things just don’t continue and it’s not negative, it’s just life.”
Bethenny Frankel referred to her relationship with Paul Bernon as ‘balanced and healthy’
During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan in 2019, Frankel described her romance with Bernon as more even-keeled than her previous relationships.
“I’m happy in a way that’s different,” Frankel said, as reported by Us Weekly. “Not a high or a low, just a balance. … If you know my personality at all, it’s not often that balanced. But I feel just balanced and healthy … My boyfriend’s very calm and centered and, yeah, balancing. And I’m just settled.”
The entrepreneur saw her coupling with Bernon as a great benefit to her life that she didn’t envision herself ever experiencing.
“I have a career, I have a daughter, I’ve had a nasty divorce,” Frankel told Ripa and Seacrest at the time. “So I wasn’t sure that I could have just that normal, beautiful, loving relationship that you remember from high school or college or something. And that’s what it feels like.”
New projects for former ‘Real Housewives’ star
Frankel has plenty of projects in the works including a production deal with Mark Burnett, and a business collaboration with her previous RHONY co-star Dorinda Medley.
The former reality star also recently launched her podcast Just B with Bethenny Frankel on Sept. 29 with several high-profile names on her schedule including Mark Cuban, Netflix CMO Bozoma Saint John, and entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk. Frankel’s focus is on business rather than spilling any tea.
“It’s not about gossip, it’s not about who someone’s dating or, you know, anything nonsense,” she told Entertainment Tonight in September 2020. “It’s all about, like, explaining how people got to where they are. These people are all game changers, they are all visionaries, you know, geniuses, billionaires … I really only have people on who have really made a mark in this world … so there’s so much that people aren’t getting anywhere else.”
Just B with Bethenny Frankel is now available on Apple Podcasts.
