Fans are looking forward to the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul with a mix of joy and dread. On one hand, they’re excited to see what happens in the aftermath of the stunning season 5 finale. Will Kim Wexler pull off her biggest con yet? Will Lalo go on a murdering rampage after being betrayed by Nacho? How will Jimmy handle his PTSD with all the drama going on around him? The list goes on.

But as much as fans can’t wait for the last installment, the final season comes with a dose of sadness, too. Even if season 6 is split into two parts as predicted, it’s still the beginning of the end for Jimmy McGill. Plus, showrunner Vince Gilligan said this will likely be the end of the Breaking Bad story forever.

Here are a few things that are destined to happen in season 6 before Jimmy meets Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

Gus Fring will finish completing his meth superlab

When Walt starts working for Gus Fring, he already has a giant underground meth lab masquerading as a bustling professional laundry business. Breaking Bad doesn’t explain how Gus built the lab, but Better Call Saul fills in those blanks with the whole backstory. Apparently, Gus hired German engineer Werner Ziegler along with his crew to build the impressive, practically undetectable meth lab.

Things go sideways when Ziegler attempts to leave the construction site without permission to visit his wife. Gus orders Mike to murder Ziegler for his disobedience, which causes tension with Mike, who disagrees with the punishment.

But by the time this all happens the lab is nearing completion. During season 6 we will finally see the lab finished and Gale Boetticher take over as the main meth manufacturer — until Walt comes along.

Jimmy McGill will purchase a Cadillac

The car symbolism throughout Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul reveals deeper truths about the characters. Previously Jimmy was driving a beat-up Suzuki Esteem that proved he was struggling to make a name for himself but hadn’t found success yet. His next ride will send a completely different message.

By the time Jimmy meets Walt and Jesse, he’ll have a Cadillac DeVille with a flashy “LWYRUP” custom license plate. This new status symbol isn’t just more expensive than his other car — it’s also proof of how much Jimmy changed.

We can assume Jimmy purchasing the car will take him one step closer to becoming Saul Goodman during season 6.

Saul Goodman will open his strip mall law firm

Jimmy McGill practices law out of a cramped office in the back of a nail salon. But in Breaking Bad, Saul Goodman has an office in a strip mall complete with gaudy faux columns and other questionable décor. The entire place echoes Saul’s over-the-top character, which fans still haven’t fully seen from Jimmy McGill.

Just like the car and the meth lab, the strip mall law office will need to open in the final season of the series or before Saul makes an appearance in Breaking Bad.

Writers will explain what happens to Kim, Lalo, and Nacho

Three of the most popular characters from Better Call Saul are nowhere to be found on Breaking Bad. All along, fans have speculated that they get killed during the series. Some more optimistic viewers think they escape into new lives far from Albuquerque. But no matter what the answer, the Better Call Saul writers will need to provide concrete reasons for Kim Wexler, Nacho Varga, and Lalo Salamanca not being part of the original series.

Season 5 provided some of the best drama yet, leading fans to expect more of the same in season 6. So far, AMC has not provided a release date for Better Call Saul’s conclusion.

Gene Takovic will find closure

Better Call Saul mostly deals with what happens before Breaking Bad begins. But there are several significant scenes that flash-forward to a post Breaking Bad world with Saul working as a manager at an Omaha Cinnabon using the name Gene Takovic.

Most recently, a creepy guy recognizes Saul at the mall. We still don’t know who the man is or how he connects to Albuquerque. But fans can expect to see Gene again in season 6 and hopefully give future Saul a fitting ending.
