‘Better Call Saul’ Fans Think This Clip Guarantees a Walter White Appearance in Season 6
Better Call Saul has a lot of questions to answer next season. What happens to Saul Goodman, Kim Wexler, Lalo Salamanca, and Nacho Varga are the big ones. But there’s also the question of whether Walter White will appear, especially now that the show is so close to the Breaking Bad timeline.
While nothing has been confirmed, some think show co-creator Vince Gilligan confirmed a Walter White cameo in an interview.
Vince Gilligan spoke about the chances of a possible appearance by Walter White in a past interview
Gilligan was asked about a potential Walt cameo in a 2018 interview with comedian and host Chris Hardwick. He couldn’t say definitively “that far ahead” but said it would be a disservice not to include him.
“All I could tell you is, we would all feel like we had really missed an opportunity if Better Call Saul has its whole run and we never see Walter White,” he said, around the 47:40 mark. “That’s probably the best way I can answer it. But being the first fans of the show, we would be sad to never see Walt on the show.”
Fans think that means there will be a Walter White cameo in ‘Better Call Saul’
Though Gilligan did not and has not confirmed anything, some viewers are convinced it will happen, knowing the show has not disappointed them yet.
“Sounds like a confirmation to me,” one fan wrote after the clip resurfaced on Reddit.
“I expect to see him, I’ll be surprised as to how they do it,” said another.
“It should be illegal to not have Walt show up,” read a third comment.
“I don’t even know how your wrap up Jimmy’s story without Walter,” commented another. “The dude completely wrecked Jimmy’s life. In a story about Jimmy becoming Gene, how could the show skip the main instigator?”
“Because it was already shown in BB. We’ve already seen Walt’s effect on Jimmy’s life,” another wrote back.
Bryan Cranston on possibly appearing on ‘Better Call Saul’
Showbiz Cheat Sheet reached out to representatives for Bryan Cranston (Walter White) for comment but did not immediately hear back. But when previously asked about a potential appearance on the show, he said he would be open to doing it.
“I get asked all the time, ‘Are you going to be on Better Call Saul? Are you going to be on Better Call Saul?’” Cranston once said on the podcast That Scene with Dan Patrick. “The answer is I don’t know but I can assure you that if I was asked to be in it, I definitely would do it because [creators] Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould are very smart guys who protect their story and their characters.”
“On the other hand, if they didn’t ask me to be on it, I wouldn’t feel slighted or upset or anything,” Cranston added. “Once I went away from Walter White and hung up the desert boots and took off his glasses and hat, his khakis, that was the end of it. I walked away and said goodbye. I wanted it always to be like an athlete who knows when it’s time to walk away and not try to hang on. That’s why I just let it go.”
Keep watching to see what happens, we guess. AMC will begin to release the first half of Better Call Saul Season 6 on April 18 and the second on July 11.
