‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6: Peter Gould Teases ‘a Painful Few Weeks’ Between Part 1 and 2
Better Call Saul Season 6 is approaching its halfway point, and the AMC series will take a break before diving into part 2 of its final outing. The first five episodes have already left fans stunned — and it sounds like the part 1 finale will send them reeling all over again. According to series co-creator, Peter Gould, the wait between Better Call Saul Season 6 Parts 1 and 2 could be an agonizing one. Fans had better brace themselves for a “painful” transition.
‘Better Call Saul’ Season 6 Part 2 arrives in July
Part 1 of Better Call Saul Season 6 debuted in April, but part 2 doesn’t premiere until July 11. With the midseason finale airing on May 23, that leaves almost two months between each chapter. As far as waits go, it isn’t terrible. However, it could prove agonizing if the first half of the season leaves off on a cliffhanger.
And judging by a recent interview with series co-creator Peter Gould, it will. According to Gould, fans will be eager to get to part 2 following the midseason finale. It sounds like the episode might even rival the halfway point of Breaking Bad‘s final season.
Peter Gould says ‘Better Call Saul’ fans will have ‘a painful few weeks’
Speaking with TVLine, Better Call Saul co-creator Peter Gould warned that the wait for part 2 might not be a pleasant one. In fact, he admitted that part 1 “ends on a pretty significant cliffhanger.” Whatever happens, it’s bound to leave fans in shock — and it’s hard to say if it will be in a good way or a bad way.
“I think this is going to be a painful few weeks for a few people to find out what happens,” Gould said. “Hopefully, people will enjoy the pain and not come after us with torches.”
That leaves things on an ominous note heading into Better Call Saul Season 6 Episodes 6-7. What does Gould think will rile viewers up so much? We have a few predictions.
Predicting what will happen ahead of season 6 part 2
As far as what kind of cliffhanger Better Call Saul Season 6 Part 1 will leave off on, there are a few options — and all of them will leave fans wishing for part 2.
The most obvious choice would be some kind of fallout between Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) and Kim (Rhea Seehorn). Could the prequel series finally start answering where she is during Breaking Bad? With Seehorn teasing a reckoning for Kim Wexler, it seems possible she’ll find herself in trouble. Perhaps her plan to take down Howard (Patrick Fabian) will backfire.
Speaking of Howard, he could also learn something he shouldn’t know during the finale. That would mirror Hank’s (Dean Norris) discovery in Breaking Bad nicely.
The tensions between Lalo (Tony Dalton) and Gus (Giancarlo Esposito) could also reach a head, though that showdown seems more likely to happen when the series returns.
Whatever Better Call Saul has planned, it will no doubt leave us on edge for the next two months. Season 6’s midseason finale debuts on May 23 at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
