‘Better Call Saul’: Patrick Fabian Kept 1 Item From Set
Patrick Fabian’s Better Call Saul character Howard Hamlin is known for wearing clean-looking and stylish suits. Costume designer Jennifer Bryan is tasked with creating the perfect look for each character. Back in February, the final season of the Breaking Bad spinoff finished filming. While Fabian didn’t get to take home any of the immaculate suits, he did get to keep one momento from the set.

Howard Hamlin wears some impressive suits in ‘Better Call Saul’
In Better Call Saul, Howard Hamlin is the capable no-nonsense face of Hamlin Hamlin McGill, so of course, he has to be impeccably well-dressed. In season 1, Jimmy has a custom suit made to match Howard, which included, Tasmanian wool, real mother-of-pearl buttons, and Sea Island cotton.
“A guy of Hamlin’s stature would not have plastic buttons,” costume designer Jennifer Bryan told Esquire. “I told the writer, it’s gotta be mother of pearl on a custom-made shirt. I deliberately put those notes in so you know that Saul/Jimmy is serious about this plan of attack.”
In terms of dressing Jimmy vs. Howard, Bryant stated, “The idea was to have Hamlin be on the extreme side of just a white-shoe law firm and everything is flawless, and Saul or Jimmy would be like the bus-bench lawyer, and their suits have to reflect where they are in terms of that industry.”
Patrick Fabian was allowed to take 1 ‘Better Call Saul’ momento home
During the May 24 episode of Better Call Saul Season 6, Patrick Fabian’s time on the show came to an end. Howard showed up at Jimmy and Kim’s house to confront them about their scheme against him. Unfortunately, he was in exactly the wrong place at the wrong time. Lalo made an appearance and shot Howard in the head.
During an episode of Talking Saul that aired after the midseason finale, Patrick Fabian revealed that he did not get to keep any of Howard’s expensive suits. “They probably paid more for the suits than they paid me,” Fabian joked. “So they are keeping all those suits all for themselves.”
Fabian revealed that he did keep one item from the Better Call Saul set. “On the very final day that we were in my office, properties came up to me and they showed me that there was one HHM pen that they had made and it had sat on my desk for six years and they were like, ‘Here. Don’t tell anybody.’ So I took it.”
Fabian’s departure from the show was bittersweet
Of course, it’s bittersweet for Patrick Fabian’s time on Better Call Saul to come to an end. “It was very emotional. It was that sense of leaving high school after graduation,” Fabian told Variety.
Still, he couldn’t have had a more jaw-dropping scene to end on. “I had a wonderful ride, and they took me out in a beautiful fashion,” the actor continued. “I couldn’t ask for more. If you gotta get shot by somebody, you might as well get shot by the handsome Tony Dalton with all that charisma. What a way to go.”
Better Call Saul Season 6 returns with new episodes on July 11, 2022.
