Season 1-5 recap

Better Call Saul’s Twitter account shared a one-minute recap of the first five seasons on April 2 ahead of the season 6 release. “The story begins in Omaha on the lamb with Albuquerque’s number one criminal lawyer,” the video starts. Since the first season, the AMC series has been teasing Gene Takavic’s (Bob Odenkirk) post-Breaking Bad fate as a Cinnabon manager.

“But before that and Breaking Bad, he’s just Jimmy McGill, a public defender who works out of a nail salon and drives a Suzuki Esteem,” the video continues. “He talks his way in and out of trouble [and] craves his brother’s respect. He schemes, scams, and teams up with his girlfriend, Kim Wexler [Rhea Seehorn].”

Glossing over the major plot points of Better Call Saul, the recap reminds fans of Jimmy’s stint “going corporate.” Plus, there’s a clip of Chuck (Michael McKean) telling Jimmy he’s not a “real lawyer.” The video also shows Jimmy connecting with Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks), who fans will recall works for Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito).

Eventually, Jimmy loses his license and “goes back to hustling.” By the end of season 5, Jimmy starts practicing law under a new name —Saul Goodman. He also befriends the cartel and becomes known as “Lalo’s guy.”

Meanwhile, Nacho (Michael Mando) works to get away from the Salamancas. But when Gus threatens his father’s safety, Nacho becomes a mole for the drug kingpin whom the Salamancas crossed. Season 5 concludes with Gus putting a hit on Lalo Salamanca (Tony Dalton). In the end, Lalo escapes.

Season 6 reviews tease a dramatic final chapter of ‘Better Call Saul’

The reviews for the new season of Better Call Saul are in. From what we’ve read, the final installment will be a dramatic beginning of the end for Jimmy/Saul/Gene.

However, new episodes of Better Call Saul won’t jump directly into Jimmy and Kim’s storyline. According to Indiewire, it “takes longer than you might expect for things to arrive back at [Kim and Jimmy].”

What’s more, Collider reports we’ll get to see the conniving couple “hatch more schemes” against “someone close to both of them [that] will require treading extra carefully.” That “someone close” is likely Howard Hamlin (Patrick Fabian), as alluded to in the Better Call Saul recap posted on Twitter.
