White admits she has trouble getting rid of things. She keeps letters, magazine articles, and items that hold special meaning. White says people save things for different reasons, and holding onto certain items reveals a lot about who they are. In her book Betty White in Person, she imagines she is like other people surrounded by items in their homes that are not “throwawayable.”

White says it’s possible to throw away junk eventually, but it’s harder to throw away items considered “memorabilia.” However, the actor jokes that as time passes, it can be easier to throw away memorabilia because you’ll eventually forget what you were supposed to remember by having the item.

Betty White says ‘good luck’ to the person who sorts her belongings after her death

White is already thinking ahead to the time when someone must sort through her belongings after she dies. She says there will likely be so many items in her home that the person will be overwhelmed. Unfortunately, she doesn’t believe she will be able to change her habits.

White jokes that she will most likely continue to save worthless things and discard the things that are actually treasures. She adds that it will be up to “the poor soul” who has the task of going through her belongings to “figure out what it all means.” White wishes that person good luck.

Betty White thought she would die before her ‘Golden Girls’ castmates

Many fans dread the day White dies, but she isn’t afraid to ponder the topics of death and dying. In her book, If You Ask Me, the entertainer says she thought she would be one of the first Golden Girls stars to die. She is surprised she is still alive and her former co-stars have all died.

“I always thought I would be the one who would go—particularly with The Golden Girls, because I was the oldest,” wrote White. “But then we lost all of them, and I’m the only one left and I’m still functioning. I think, ‘How did that happen?’”
