Beyoncé Once Said She Would Be ‘Very Happy’ If She Could Turn off Her Fame

Despite her ongoing success, Beyoncé longs to enjoy her life without worrying about prying eyes and wishes she had the ability to turn her fame on and off.

Bey rose to fame in the late ’90s as a member of the influential girl group, Destiny’s Child. Though the trio made waves with their hit songs and incredible harmonies, it didn’t take long for Beyoncé to break away from the group and begin exploring solo projects.

In 2003, Bey released her very first solo album, Dangerously In Love, which not only solidified her as a breakout star but an icon in the making who was worthy of the world’s attention.

From there, Beyoncé continued releasing hit song after hit song and soon became one of the world’s best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide.

But Beyoncé’s ongoing success wasn’t just in the music industry.

In the early 2000s, she began her acting career and has since appeared in movies such as Austin Powers in Goldmember, Dreamgirls, The Pink Panther, and Obsessed.

Bey is also a savvy businesswoman and has worked on several business ventures, including her latest, the fashion brand Ivy Park.

Today, Beyoncé is a renowned Queen as she’s not only one of the most influential people in the entertainment industry, but she is also the highest-earning black musician in history.

In a perfect world, Beyoncé would be able to turn off her fame

Though she is one of the most well-known people in the world, Beyoncé has thought about what life would be like if she wasn’t a pop superstar. In fact, the singer once admitted that she would turn off her fame if she could.

In 2011, the then 25-year-old singer did an interview with Piers Morgan when he was on CNN. The two chatted about everything, from Bey’s career up to that point, her upbringing, and her experiences with fame.

When Morgan asked the singer if she liked being famous, she told him that she enjoys fame to an extent.

“I like it at times. You know, I like it when I’m on stage. But honestly, I would be very happy if I could cut it off and just enjoy my life when I wasn’t performing,” she admitted.

Though turning off her fame would be ideal, Beyoncé clarified that she loves what she does and understands that life is full of sacrifices.

“I don’t think it’s great to complain much regardless of what you do. I’m able to do so many wonderful things that I have to weigh it out,” she continued. “I get to sell out venues, I make really good money, I make a great living, and I do what I love so if I have to sacrifice some of my privacy, it’s not great but it is what it is.”

As their conversation about fame continued, Morgan asked Beyoncé if she would give up fame for complete anonymity. Though the question stumped her at first, Beyoncé revealed that she’s content with her life, despite always being under the world’s watchful eye.

“I don’t know because…that means I wouldn’t be me,” she said. “I don’t know, it’s a tough thing. I’m happy with my choices in life and I’m happy with my life.”
