Beyoncé Knowles is collaborating with Adidas and the entire music community it hyped. For decades the sneaker world and the music world have been intertwined. Several notable names in the music world have happily shared their love of premium kicks with their fans, and sneakers have been heavily intertwined in pop culture for decades. Still, it’s been a mostly male-dominated scene. That is until now. The collaboration between Adidas and Beyoncé’s IVY PARK is expected to sell out in record time, and it might just be the most anticipated releases of 2020, so far.

What is included in the Adidas x IVY PARK collaboration?

Beyoncé and Adidas have worked together to craft several unique shoes, all built on some of Adidas’ most successful silhouettes. Three sneakers have been revealed for the inaugural run of the collection and will include an Ultraboost offering, a Nite Jogger colorway and a version of the Sleek Super 72. Hyperbeast notes that the Sleek Super 72 will be the cheapest offering in the collection, retailing for $100. The Nite Jogger and the Ultraboost offerings in the collection will retail for $160 and $200, respectively.

A fourth shoe style is expected to be released as part of the collection, as well, although neither Adidas nor Beyoncé has confirmed what that sneaker will be. Only three shoes were featured in the teaser trailer for the collaboration. It is unknown if that fourth release will drop on the same date as the other shoes. Right now, everything is slated for a Jan. 18 release date.

The Adidas x IVY PARK collaboration will be unisex

Sneaker collaborations aren’t often offered in unisex sizing. Sure, most women can wear a men’s or child’s size sneaker, making the majority of releases accessible to a large portion of the population, but men are largely out of luck when women’s shoes are released. The Adidas x IVY PARK collab will be different; it is being purposefully marketed as unisex.

Beyoncé sat down with Elle in December 2019 to discuss her decision to craft a sneaker collection, and she went in depth about her choice to offer a unisex line of apparel. She told the publication, “This new line is fun and lends itself to creativity, the ultimate power. I focused on designing a unisex collection of footwear and apparel because I saw so many men in IVY PARK. The way they have embraced the brand is an unexpected gift. I appreciate the beauty of gender-neutral clothing and breaking the so-called fashion rules.”

All the sneakers currently revealed will feature warm tones. The Nite Jogger, for example, will be released in a solar orange and maroon colorway, as well as a cream and solar orange colorway. The Sleek Super 72 will feature cream tones and maroon accents. The Ultraboost offering is predominantly maroon with a solar orange sole. There is no word on available sizing just yet, though.

The Adidas x IVY PARK collaboration might be the most anticipated drop of 2020 so far

Adidas is no stranger to collaborations. The wild success of Kanye West’s work with the company was seemingly unprecedented when the first sneakers hit the shelves in 2015. Since then, Kanye’s Yeezy sneakers have sold out each and every time a version has been released, and that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. It has been argued that West put Adidas back on the map after years of coming in second to Nike.

Pharrell Williams has also collaborated with Adidas, and his line is also wildly popular with sneaker aficionados. The addition of Beyoncé to the list of the company’s collaborators can only be a good thing, and from the looks of it, the Adidas x IVY PARK collaboration is among the most anticipated collaborations so far this year. How well the shoe will sell remains to be seen, but most experts believe it will sell out in mere minutes.
