Ian Terry has opened up about being autistic on ‘Big Brother 22’
Ian previously won Big Brother 14. Now he’s back for another shot at winning and this time he’s being open about being autistic.
He was seen on the live feeds talking to Kaysar Ridha, Nicole Anthony, and Janelle Pierzina. “I hate this game,” he told them. He said it is “autistic hell.”
He then asked Kaysar, “You can tell, right? I’m autistic.” Kaysar said he maybe autistic too. “I gave up on trying to hide it,” Ian said.
Ian is often seen rocking to soothe himself. He has also talked about enjoying the hammock, but wanted to limit his time this season on it because he previously received negative comments about using it. Fans were sympathetic and started a petition for him to have another way to rock.
Houseguests were seen making fun of Ian Terry
Nicole Franzel, Dani Briones, Memphis Garrett and Christmas Abbott were seen talking on the live feeds about Ian on Sept. 8. It all started with Dani and Nicole talking about Ian rocking.
“I can’t even look at him sometimes because his constant movement. It stresses me out,” Dani told her. Nicole also agreed.
They were then joined by the other houseguests. Memphis said Ian reminds him of The Shining. He went on to say he thinks he’ll have a nightmare of Ian rocking back and forth at the end of his bed. Memphis then mimics Ian by rocking. He said he’s stressed out by him always being around.
The video of this conversation has made it to social media. Many fans were horrified to see the houseguests talk about Ian like this and former houseguests are also talking about it.
Kaysar Ridha says he’s mortified
The evicted houseguests and alums are keeping tabs on what’s going on in the house. Many of them aren’t happy with people’s comments about Ian.
Kat Dunn from Big Brother 21 tweeted a list of strengths of people with autism. Kaysar responded by tweeting, “Thank you for posting this. People on the spectrum are some of the best our society has to offer. I’m mortified by the actions of these Big Brother houseguests. Before leaving I reminded Ian to never let anyone laugh at him. Ever. Period. #BB22.”
He also tweeted, “Hey houseguests… here’s what gave ME anxiety when @TulaneTerry walked into the room. How can someone so smart, sweet, compassionate, and thoughtful as Ian feel so nervous about how people perceived him, will treat him, and be let down by him. Change your perspective!!! #BB2.”
