‘Big Brother’: What Is the House Theme for Season 23?
Every year, the Big Brother house has a theme that usually ties in with twists. For example, season 21, the most recent season featuring new houseguests, followed a camp concept. For one curveball, the cast had to decide on a Camp Counselor immediately after entering the house, who received the power to “banish” four houseguests. Additionally, the viewers were able to vote for who they wanted to attend a “field trip,” which yielded punishments to those who didn’t win.
The cast members also underwent “prank week” and slept in cabin-themed rooms. Following last year’s All-Stars, the popular reality competition show is back with another season, likely featuring all-new houseguests. Shortly after CBS released a press announcement revealing the 90-minute premiere episode date for BB23, host Julie Chen Moonves broadcasted on app Clubhouse, where she divulged the theme for the house this year.

Cody Calafiore won ‘Big Brother’ season 22
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fans thought the reality competition series wouldn’t return for the summer. However, it ended up premiering a few weeks later, in Aug. 2020, with all-returning houseguests for the first time since 2007’s All-Stars.
Familiar faces including Janelle Pierzina, Nicole Franzel, Da’Vonne Rogers, Ian Terry, and Dani Briones returned with the hopes of claiming the title or becoming the first two-time winner.
BB16 runner-up Cody Calafiore won the first Head of Household competition and used it to solidify several alliances in the house. However, he ended up the most faithful to the dominating Committee, who controlled nearly every vote.
Additionally, Calafiore had a final two with Enzo Palumbo they made at the beginning of the competition, which the New Jersey native honored over a deal with another ally, Franzel.
After avoiding the nomination seats all season, he chose to sit next to Palumbo, who the majority felt played too safely.
Therefore, they unanimously awarded him the victory, and he became the second winner to play a perfect game, or unanimously win without receiving any nominations, behind season 10’s Dan Gheesling.
‘Big Brother 23’ features a beach club theme
Julie Chen Moonves will return as the host for the 23rd season, which premieres Wed., Jul. 7, with a live move-in 90-minute episode, similar to last year’s All-Stars.
Additionally, instead of waiting the usual 10 or so days, viewers can expect to log into the Live Feeds shortly after the Pacific Standard Time airing of the premiere.
Following last year’s “All-Stars” approach with iconic winners and players gracing the walls and season 21’s camp theme, Chen Moonves revealed on the Clubhouse app in a May 2021 chat that Big Brother 23 will adopt a coastal concept; known as “BB Beach Club.”
According to a popular spoiler page, the cast features all-new houseguests, including four white men, three white and Black women, two Black men, and one Latina, Latino, Middle-Eastern or Asian male, and a biracial female.
CBS will likely reveal the official group of houseguests around a week before the premiere date. Big Brother 23 debuts with a 90-minute episode at 8/7 EST on CBS.
