Big Brother stars Memphis Garrett and Christmas Abbott shocked the BB community when they announced they began dating, although many Live Feed viewers say they saw it coming. Following a vacation to the Bahamas, he popped the question. How long did they date before getting engaged?
Memphis Garrett and Christmas Abbott are engaged
Big Brother 10 runner-up Memphis Garrett and BB19 finalist Christmas Abbott became close allies during BB22: All-Stars but left the house as friends. The two were both dating other people at the time but ended their respective relationships to begin dating a couple of months later.
Garrett and Abbott broke the news in an E! News exclusive and separate Instagram posts where they insisted they didn’t start anything romantic until they were single. However, the two admitted they did fall for each other while in the house.
The Big Brother stars frequently hung out together in Florida, vacationed in Mexico, and attended co-star Nicole Franzel’s wedding to BB18 star Victor Arroyo before moving into a house with each other in May 2021. A month later, the couple enjoyed a trip to the Bahamas, ending with Garrett popping the question.
He posted a series of four photos documenting the proposal, captioning it, “She said yes!! I love this woman unconditionally, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her,” with a hashtag, final two forever. Abbott uploaded similar pictures, noting she didn’t see it coming.
They met during ‘Big Brother 22’
The two initially met during All-Stars in Aug. 2020 when Garrett approached her in the middle of the first week to join the dominating six-person alliance, The Committee.
The supergroup went on to win almost every Head of Household competition and remained in control for the entire season. Knowing the group had to split up during the triple eviction, Garrett formed two versions of the same alliance, The Wise Guys, with one involving Abbott.
However, his plan didn’t work, and he ended up evicted, placing fifth, as the others perceived him as the bigger threat to win. She joined him in the Jury House the following week, placing fourth. During their time in the house, many fans believed the two had a connection and thought they kissed at one point.
Although they didn’t deny falling for each other while filming, the two claimed they never shared a kiss. The couple dated for six months before getting engaged.
Many fans thought they broke up at one point following a cryptic post
After they announced they began dating, the two made their first public appearance as a couple during a charity event in Florida. Garrett and Abbott documented themselves seemingly having a good time and had words for fans who approached them with hate.
Additionally, she began making frequent appearances on his Instagram Live series, Morning with Memphis. A couple of months after the two announced their relationship, many fans thought they split due to a cryptic post they shared on social media.
Garrett posted a quote to his Instagram Story that read, “Eventually, all things fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moments, and know everything happens for a reason,” and tagged his girlfriend with a red heart emoji. She later reposted the image.
Shortly after the breakup rumors began to circulate; the couple both denied they split with a Valentine’s Day post. Big Brother 23 returns July 2021 on CBS.
