What are the ‘Power’ Universe spinoffs?

The Power Universe is expansive. Since the original series ended in 2020, the world and its characters have grown exponentially. The universe includes Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Force, and Power Book V: Influence.

Power Book II: Ghost, set in the aftermath of Power, follows Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), who is juggling his life as a drug dealer and college student after murdering his father, Ghost. However, Tariq is quickly learning the same lesson his father never did: you can’t outrun your past.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan occurs in the 1990s and follows Ghost’s mentor Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis) during his teen years. We learn how Kanan got into the game and became the menacing monster that once kidnapped Tariq.

Power Book IV: Force occurs in the same period as Ghost. It follows Ghost’s best friend Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), who leaves New York for Chicago. “As Tommy leaves New York after losing Ghost, LaKeisha, and the only city he’s ever known, he makes a quick detour to close an old wound that’s been haunting him for decades,” the official Starz description reads. “What was supposed to be a quick stop turns into a labyrinth of family secrets and lies Tommy thought were long buried.  One step leads to another and Tommy quickly finds himself in Chicago’s drug game, inserting himself between the city’s two biggest crews.”

Finally, Power Book V: Influence will chronicle Rashad Tate’s (Larenz Tate) second run for New York governor.

Big Sean was almost cast in a ‘Power’ spinoff

It turns out that rapper Big Sean almost joined the cast in one of the Power spinoffs. The rapper has appeared on BET’s Twenties and was looking to expand his acting chops.

“I was actually supposed to do something with 50 [Cent], but it didn’t line up schedule-wise,” he told TV Line. “But those are great people. [BMF] is one of my favorites right now. I love the Power universe — Raising Kanan and all of that. It’s fire.”

Since the Power Universe and 50 Cent are only expanding, Big Sean may be able to appear on a forthcoming series or show.

Will Big Sean appear in ‘BMF’ Season 2?

Since Big Sean is a Detroit native who always reps his city, it would be amazing for him to appear in Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s 1980s-set series BMF. After all, when the series returns, the Flenory brothers will expand in a major way.

BMF showrunner and creator Randy Huggins is already considering the season 2 storyline. “What’s really interesting about Demetrius and Terry is they really didn’t blow up in Detroit,” Huggins told The Detroit Free Press. Interestingly enough, Big Meech and Southwest T were no longer speaking when they were arrested in 2004 for money laundering and fraud.

It would be intriguing to see Big Sean step back in time as a character who interacted with one or both of the brothers.
