‘Bill and Ted Face the Music’ Photo Reunites Wyld Stallyns Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter
It’s actually happening. Nearly 30 years after Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, the lovable slackers played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, respectively, are back. Audiences first met the characters in 1989’s Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Now the long-awaited third film is nearing its release at last.
Reeves and Winter have remained dedicated to the project for a while. Yet, with its August 2020 release only months away, fans still haven’t caught a glimpse of Bill and Ted Face the Music. All we’ve received are a few promotional stills of the duo. Now we have our best look so far.
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are back together again
Development on Bill and Ted Face the Music has taken a long time. Way back in 2010, Winter confirmed series writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon were working on a screenplay. But the film didn’t enter production until summer 2019. From that point, it became clear the long-gestating project was actually on its way.
In addition to Reeves and Winter, this third installment marks the return of a few other familiar faces. Most notably, William Sadler will reprise his role as the Grim Reaper from the previous film. Amy Stoch and Hal Landon Jr. are also back as Missy and Ted’s dad, respectively.
Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) and Brigette Lundy-Paine (Netflix’s Atypical) join the series as Bill and Ted’s daughters. Other cast members include Kid Cudi, Holland Taylor, Kristen Schaal, and Anthony Carrigan (Barry). The film will see Bill and Ted forced to create a song to save the universe.
‘Bill and Ted Face the Music’ gives fans a new look at the duo
In order to stoke fan interest in the project, the Bill and Ted Face the Music marketing team has released a few promotional stills for the film. But none of them have really lent much insight into the plot. The latest addition to that crop of photos still doesn’t spell anything out, but it’s more than we’ve gotten recently.
In the new photo, Bill and Ted are dressed in suits and standing on a floral decorated stage. Given their smiling faces, this scene most likely takes place during a joyous event with some personal connection to the two men. Perhaps one of their daughters has just gotten married, or the two young women could even wind up marrying each other for all we know.
Regardless, we assume this still is taken from a scene early in the film. The marketing for Bill and Ted Face the Music has so far expertly avoided giving away anything. All we can do now is speculate what kind of adventures Bill and Ted will get into this time. It’s also such a thrill to simply see Reeves and Winter reunited like this, especially for longtime fans.
More Keanu Reeves sequels are on the way
Of course, Bill and Ted Face the Music is far from the only Reeves sequel on the way. The star currently has fourth chapters of his John Wick and The Matrix franchises scheduled for release on the same day in 2021. Since he last played Ted, Reeves has seen his career rise and fall and rise again, while Winter has mostly stayed behind the camera.
Most recently, the John Wick series reinvigorated his career. But the Bill and Ted movies were instrumental in launching him into the spotlight. Much-delayed comedy sequels don’t have the best track record. Yet, we’re hopeful that the series’ original writers and stars can deliver another excellent adventure for the Wyld Stallyns.
