The Billboard Music Awards will take place live in Las Vegas, NV, on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Sean “Diddy” Combs will host this year’s ceremony celebrating a year of music excellence on the Billboard Charts. Performers include Silk Sonic, Travis Scott, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Where to watch the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards will broadcast live from Las Vegas, NV. Viewers can tune in to NBC at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT on Sunday, May 15, 2022. The ceremony will happen at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the same venue that hosted the Grammy Awards earlier this year.

Fans will also be able to tune in to the awards ceremony on Peacock. NBC’s streaming platform will air the Billboard Music Awards live for subscribers. According to Billboard, Xfinity and Cox Internet subscribers may have a free Peacock account they can access to stream the awards. 

Who’s performing at the Billboard Music Awards?

The BBMA’s bring a slew of headline-grabbing performers this year. Travis Scott will give his first televised performance since his Astroworld concert in November that saw the death of 10 people. Controversial country singer Morgan Wallen, who came under fire for previous racist remarks, is also slated to perform. 

Ed Sheeran, Silk Sonic,, Burna Boy, Miranda Lambert, Florence + The Machine, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Rauw Alejandro, and Maxwell will all take the stage in Las Vegas.

Red Hot Chili Peppers were supposed to perform but canceled. The Billboard Music Awards tweeted on May 11, “Due to unforeseen circumstances The Red Hot Chili Peppers will not be able to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.” The message continued with, “They look forward to seeing you on the road this summer!” 

On the same day, Dan + Shay and Machine Gun Kelly were announced as performers. Mary J Blige will receive the Icon Award and also perform. 

The Weeknd leads with 17 nominations

“Take My Breath” singer, The Weeknd, leads all artists with 17 nominations. His collaboration with Ariana Grande, “Save Your Tears” is up for six. Doja Cat is close behind with 14 nominations. Justin Bieber, Kanye “Ye” West, and Olivia Rodrigo all earned 13 nominations.

Rodrigo is also a finalist for top new artist. She goes against Givēon, Masked Wolf, Pooh Shiesty, and The Kid LAROI. IT’s the third year in a row an artist has been nominated for top new artist and top artist in the same year. 

The most winning artist of all time, Drake, is nominated for 11 awards this year. His album Certified Lover Boy is up for the Billboard 200 album category. While he’s also nominated for top artist, top male artist, top Hot 100 artist, and to Billboard 200 artist. 

BTS is the most nominated group at this year’s BBMA’s with 7 chances to bring home a trophy. The K-pop group will not be in attendance as they’re preparing to release new music in June.
