Billie Eilish Performs to a ‘So Loud’ Crowd at the Governors Ball Music Festival
As one of the youngest performers at this music festival, Billie Eilish headlined Friday’s Governors Ball Music Festival, appearing alongside Finneas. There, she performed songs like “Happier Than Ever” and “When The Party’s Over,” commenting and the “loud” attendees in the process.
Here’s what we know about Eilish, her setlist, and her other appearances at this music festival.
Billie Eilish was Friday’s headliner for New York City’s Governors Ball Music Festival
She performed at the 2021 Firefly Music Festival and the iHeartRadio Music Festival. On Sept. 24 Eilish took over Citi Field, headlining New York City’s Governors Ball Music Festival.
This artist recently released her concert film Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles on Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+. On Sept. 25, this artist is also set to appear at the music festival Global Citizen Live NYC, presented by Citi and Cisco.
Billie Eilish performed songs from ‘When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go’ and ‘Happier Than Ever’
Eilish began her set with the well-known song off of Where We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go — “Bury a Friend.” Complete with pigtails and her iconic baggy close, Eilish took to the stage, performing for a louder than usual crowd.
Fans could even be heard shouting the lyrics through Eilish’s microphone. She followed “Bury a Friend” with “You Should See Me in the Crown” asking fans “not to move” until she said so. When she stopped to address the crowd, she was sure to mention their volume.
“How are you doing? Oh, you guys are so loud. I love it, oh my gosh,” Eilish said to a screaming crowd. “It’s been almost two years, you guys. This is f*cking crazy, I’m so happy… I love you guys so much. Have you had a good day?”
Her third song was “I Didn’t Change My Number,” off of the artist’s 2021 release, Happier Than Ever. However, the set was dotted with songs released in conjunction with both albums, with Eilish even undoing her hair mid-performance.
Billie Eilish performed at other Governors Ball music festivals
This performance wouldn’t be Eilish’s first performance at New York City’s iconic music festival. During 2018’s Governors Ball, the artist performed “lovely” alongside Khalid. That mini-concert was on the American Eagle stage. (Eilish has since graduated to the Gov Ball Main Stage.)
Other artists featured in the Friday lineup for Governors Ball include Laundry Day, 99 Neighbors, Tate McRae, Sasha Alex Sloan, Orville Peck, Odie, Earthgang, Future Island, 24KGOLDN, Portugal. The Man, Kehlani, Leon Bridges, and Rüfüs Du Sol.
Other headliners appearing throughout this music festival include A$AP Rocky and Post Malone. Music by Eilish is available on most major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. To learn more about The Governors Ball Music Festival, visit their website.
