Billie Eilish Teased This Line From ‘Happier Than Ever’ Before Her Album Even Dropped
Billie Eilish teased more than just her blonde hair on Instagram. Here’s what we know about the secret “Happier Than Ever” reference from March 2021.
Billie Eilish ushered in her ‘Happier Than Ever’ era on Instagram
Eilish was known for her dark persona and iconic black and green hair. All of that changed when the singer announced she would release another album in 2021, this one titled Happier Than Ever, and dyed her hair a different color.
Eilish kept her blonde locks a secret to fans even after she dyed them. Sporting a black and green “Billie Eilish” wig in public, fans only confirmed that this artist was in a new era thanks to her Instagram post.
In a short video, Eilish flipped her hair to reveal yellow-hued layers, with the caption “did you guess correctly?” The clip earned over 45 million views in a matter of weeks, with fans commenting their excitement regarding new music and this new look. However, this wouldn’t be the only time Eilish offered a glimpse into her Happier Than Ever era.
Billie Eilish posted some of the ‘Happier Than Ever’ lyrics before her album’s debut
In March 2021, Eilish first gave a glimpse into her upcoming album. That’s thanks to her Instagram account and one cryptic post. The picture featured Eilish with her blonde hair and several necklaces. She captioned it, “leave me alone.”
Although fans didn’t know it at the time, “leave me alone” became one of the best-known lyrics from Eilish’s album Happier Than Ever. Initially released in July 2021, the song “Happier Than Ever” features the lyrics “made all my moments your own, just f****** leave me alone.”
Eilish posted other Happier Than Ever teasers on Instagram. Six days ahead of Happier Than Ever’s premiere, the “Therefore I Am” shared a picture of the tracklist.
A day before the “Happier Than Ever” music video’s release, Eilish posted a clip from the official video. Of course, the artist already released songs like “Your Power” and “My Future” on most major streaming platforms.
Billie Eilish earned several Grammy nominations for ‘Happier Than Ever’
Following the success of When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go, Eilish earned several Grammy nominations for Happier Than Ever. That includes the nomination for Album of the Year. When Happier Than Ever first premiered, Eilish shared how sentimental this production was for her and her brother/co-writer.
“This was the most fulfilling, most satisfying, and profound experience I’ve ever had with my music. Finneas and I were just on cloud 9 making this album, I feel,” Eilish wrote on Instagram. “I love every song on this project so so much it literally scares me thinking about putting it out into the world for anyone to listen to.”
“I feel like crying,” she continued. “I grew so much in the process of making this album and experienced so much self-realization and self-reflection. I wish I could go back and make this album all over again because it was some of the best nights in my life.”
