Billie Lourd is a talented actor who has appeared in TV shows like Scream Queens and American Horror Story. She has shown to have an effortless sense for comedy roles and has become one of Ryan Murphy’s muses. Lourd is Hollywood royalty, the daughter of iconic Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher and the granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds. Recently, Lourd stunned the world when she revealed that she had a baby. Although the news was shocking and unexpected, it was also heartwarming, considering the sweet way that Lourd paid tribute to her late mother with her baby’s name.

Billie Lourd was born in 1992, the only daughter of Carrie Fisher and talent agent Bryan Lourd. The young girl was raised to know many major celebrities in Hollywood and calls Meryl Streep her godmother. As an infant, and later, a child, Lourd stayed well away from the spotlight, and experienced a relatively normal upbringing. In fact, she did not begin her foray into acting until 2015, when she played Lieutenant Connix in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Wearing a similar hairstyle to the one that her mother rocked in the original Star Wars, Lourd made a splash and ultimately reprised the role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. While fans loved seeing Lourd create a space for herself in a franchise that meant so much to her family, she has also been able to carve out her own identity in several other popular TV shows.

What is Billie Lourd best known for?

Also in 2015, Billie Lourd starred in the Ryan Murphy-helmed series Scream Queens, opposite Emma Roberts. Lourd perfectly portrayed a wealthy sorority girl, and she earned significant critical acclaim for the role. She continued appearing on the series for two years until it went off the air in 2017. The following year, she teamed up with Ryan Murphy again when she was featured in American Horror Story: Cult. Lourd eventually returned for several more seasons of the horror anthology series, most recently in 2019’s American Horror Story: 1984.

Billie Lourd has also appeared in a variety of cult classic movies, including Booksmart, released in 2019. Next up for Lourd: an appearance in the yet-untitled tenth season for American Horror Story. Still, Lourd has plenty to occupy her time before she gets to work filming American Horror Story, as the actor recently revealed that she welcomed her first child with her fiancé, Austen Rydell.

In late September, Billie Lourd posted a picture to her Instagram, revealing that she and her fiancé, Austen Rydell, welcomed a baby boy. The birth came as a total shock to fans, who didn’t even realize that Lourd was pregnant. The sweetest surprise, however, was the baby boy’s name. In her post, Lourd revealed that she named her son Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell, in honor of her mother, Carrie Fisher.

Of course, Carrie Fisher tragically passed away in December 2016, followed almost immediately after by her mother, Debbie Reynolds. Billie Lourd has been open with fans throughout her grief journey, frequently sharing pictures of her mother to her social media accounts and talking about the difficulty of coping with the deaths of her mother and grandmother. Not only did Lourd give her baby her mother’s last name, but she also apparently dressed the baby in a Star Wars-inspired outfit, adorned with tiny moons. Although Lourd doesn’t have her mother with her to help provide guidance as she navigates the early days of parenthood, the fact that she honored her newborn with her late mother’s name will no doubt give her some comfort and reassurance that Carrie Fisher is always with her.
