‘Billions’: When Will Season 6 Premiere?
Fans of Billions won’t have to wait long for Season 6 of the high-flying financial drama. That’s according to Showtime boss Gary Levine at a recent TCA session. The network paused the show in the first quarter of 2020 due to the pandemic. As a result, the rest of Season 5 came out this past September 5. And now we have a release date for the latest season.

Release date for ‘Billions’ Season 6
Like the phoenix rising from the ashes, Billions is back. Season 6 is set to premiere on January 23, 2022, following the successful airing of the second part of Season 5 last month. Despite the yearlong hiatus, Levine has assured audiences they’ll be able to jump right back in just as the actors did.
Fans of the show will be happy the pandemic didn’t change the storyline. Levine admits he and the team made some adjustments while shooting the last five episodes but maintains they stayed true to the original plan. Viewers won’t need a recap of the earlier episodes to get going with Season 6.
Is ‘Billions’ Season 6 in production?
Levine revealed that the actors and creative team behind the success of Billions shot the second part of Season 5 and all of Season 6 at the same time.
Admittedly, COVID-19 almost threw the production schedule off-course, but it gave the writers much-needed time to work on the storyline in a safe environment. There would be new protocols, production concerns, and the different actors’ availability, but production forged ahead nonetheless.
The Showtime boss also revealed they never wanted fans to wait for Season 6 as long as they did for the second portion of Season 5. Levine said he and the production team had to put their “head down” and “plow ahead,” Deadline reported.
Who will star in Season 6?
Co-creator Brian Koppelman, speaking with Entertainment Weekly, noted that the goodbyes and hellos on Billions are never permanent, a clear hint that Season 6 will see some faces exit and welcome new members into the cast.
However, most members of the main cast are expected to return. Maggie Siff as Wendy Rhoades will continue to work at Axe Capital while Jeffrey DeMunn stars as Chuck Rhoades Sr.
Meanwhile, Kelly AuCoin will still play Dollar Bill Stern, an Axe Capital portfolio manager. Nico Tanner, Frank Grillo’s artist, is expected to return if Wendy is open to a relationship with him.
Eva Victor will also appear in Season 6, after her chemistry with Taylor Mason, played by Asia Kate Dillon, unexpectedly became a highlight of Season 5.
Is Damien Lewis leaving ‘Billions’?
But the biggest surprise in Season 6 is the exit of Damien Lewis, who plays Bobby Axelrod. That means the series’ final chapter will be one billionaire less in the intriguing power plays. In the shocking departure, Lewis leaves his iconic role as Axe after five seasons, as his character flees to Switzerland after being outmaneuvered in Season 5.
While Axe goes into hiding, fans can look forward to seeing more from Wendy Rhoades, Taylor Mason, Mike Wagner (David Costabile), and Kate Sacker (Condola Rashad). Corey Stoll — who plays Mike Prince, Axe’s arch-enemy — will be a regular in Season 6.
Billions Season 6 is now a reality following Levine’s confirmation that it has been in the works despite the pandemic. Fans can now anticipate a storyline spillover when Season 6 premieres January 23.
