How Old Is Bindi Irwin?
Bindi Irwin is a new mom! The Dancing with the Stars alum and her husband Chandler Powell welcomed their first child on March 25, she announced on Twitter. Grace Warrior Irwin Powell was born at 5:52 p.m., weighed 7 lbs, 7 oz., and measured 20 inches long.
The couple’s child had impeccable timing, arriving on Powell and Irwin’s first wedding anniversary.
“There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl,” Irwin shared on social media. “She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”
Fans watched 22-year-old Bindi Irwin grow up on screen
Irwin and Powell’s happy news was greeted with congratulations from fans, many of whom likely watched her grow up on screen. Irwin, who is 22, was born on July 24, 1998. She is the oldest daughter of the late Steve Irwin, star of the Animal Planet series The Crocodile Hunter, and his wife Terri Irwin. Her father died in September 2006, when she was 8 years old.
Irwin often appeared with parents and younger brother Robert on her father’s various TV shows and specials. After his death, she starred in the documentary kids show Bindi the Jungle Girl. She also appeared in several movies, including Free Willy: Escape From Pirate’s Cove and Return to Nim’s Island. In 2015, she and Derek Hough won the Mirror Ball trophy on Dancing with the Stars. Currently, she and other members of her family appear on the series Crikey! It’s the Irwins, which airs on Animal Planet.
Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell dated for six years before getting engaged
Irwin was just 21 when she got married. But she and Powell, now 24, dated for years before he popped the question on her 21st birthday.
“On my birthday I said ‘yes’ & ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” she wrote on Twitter when announcing her engagement in 2019. “Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you & every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure & true happiness.”
Five months after their wedding in March 2020, the couple announced they were expecting.
“We’re going to be parents!! We have a baby Wildlife Warrior on the way coming in 2021,” Powell, a professional wakeboarder, revealed in an August 2020 Instagram post. “Becoming a dad is the highlight of my life. I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife, @bindisueirwin. Bee, you’re going to be the most amazing mother.”
Now that their baby is here, Irwin’s mom Terri couldn’t be more proud.
“Love is not a big enough word. My heart is so incredibly happy. And I know that Steve would be beyond proud,” she wrote on Twitter. “Grace is the next generation to continue his mission and message of conservation. She chose her parents wisely. Bindi and Chandler are already the best parents ever!”
