‘BIP’: Dean Unglert Said It’s ‘Kind of Strange’ He’s Never Met Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ Parents
Caelynn Miller-Keyes and Dean Unglert have become darlings of Bachelor Nation. The unlikely couple first met on Bachelor in Paradise, and they’re still together over a year later.
Miller-Keyes joined Unglert on his podcast, Help! I Suck at Dating, a few times, and they discussed their parents. Unglert mentioned he’s never actually met Miller-Keyes’ parents despite the seriousness of their relationship. Here’s what they said.
Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ said her biological father was not in her life on ‘The Bachelor’
Miller-Keyes got ultra-personal on Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor. Because she made it all the way to the hometown dates, Underwood was set to meet Miller-Keyes’ family. And Miller-Keyes explained how her biological father wasn’t part of her life.
“My biological father is not a part of my life, like, at all,” she explained to Underwood ahead of hometowns, Refinery29 reports. “My step-dad, he’s the one who’s raised me. He’s the one who’s like my dad and just been there through all of that. So he’s my dad.”
Underwood was very understanding and accepting of Miller-Keyes’ unique family situation. “I want to make sure your step-dad and your mom can look at me and see the way that I make you feel, and, vice versa, see the way you make me feel,” he told her. And they had a very successful hometown date.
Unfortunately for Miller-Keyes, she didn’t end up with Underwood, as he ended up choosing Cassie Randolph in the end. But she seems to be a much better fit for Unglert.
Dean Unglert talked about how he’s never met Miller-Keyes’ mother
While Underwood met Miller-Keyes’ mom, Unglert hasn’t. While talking to Jared Haibon on their Help! I Suck at Dating … podcast, Unglert mentioned he’s never met his girlfriend’s mother.
“You want to know what’s funny is I’ve been dating Caelynn, I want to say, for 15 or 16 months now. I don’t think I’ve had a single conversation … I’ve never met her mother,” Unglert said. “I’ve never had a conversation with her. I don’t know. It’s kind of strange.”
Unglert then explained that Miller-Keyes isn’t close to her parents. “She’s very close with her grandparents,” Unglert added. “I love her grandparents. They live in Las Vegas and we’ve seen them and spent quite a lot of time with them. She’s definitely far, far closer with her grandparents. But … it’s her mom, so she loves her mom. But yeah, it’s just kind of strange that I’ve never met her.”

Miller-Keyes joined Unglert’s podcast on another episode and talked about how Unglert’s never met her parents, too.
“Dean’s never met my dad, nor has he met my mom, which will happen at some point,” Miller-Keyes said. “His dad’s not in his life, my dad’s not in my life, so it’s kind of like, what is the point?”
Unglert also noted that part of the reason he’s never met Miller-Keyes’ parents is that they’re on the East Coast, and her mother hates flying. “She doesn’t like to travel on airplanes,” he said on the podcast. “Caelynn and I have never really been to the East Coast.”
Thankfully, when Miller-Keyes asked if Unglert knew her mom’s name, Unglert got it right. If Miller-Keyes’ mom listens to the podcast, she can at least take solace knowing her (possible) future son-in-law knows her name and thinks of her from time to time!
