A good ASA agent, perhaps and a friendship in ‘Black Lightning’ season 3 episode 11
Season 3 Episode 11 of Black Lightning starts with an ASA agent, Sergeant Gardner Grayle, recording a video message for people to see in case something happens to him. In this message, he talks about how he’s not alright with harming or killing innocent people. He admits that he is not happy with what Agent Odell and the other ASA agents are doing. Jennifer and Brandon are finally safe at the Pierces’ house after running from the ASA for a while.
When Jefferson comes home, he and Jennifer go somewhere to talk privately. Jennifer tells her father about the missions she went on for Odell. She admits that she might have killed people, and that Odell needs to die. Jefferson doesn’t agree with killing Odell, but does say that he needs to be dealt with somehow.
Once Jefferson and Jennifer are done talking, Jefferson warns Brandon to stay away from his daughter. Jennifer replies that her relationship with Brandon is just a friendship. Jefferson adds that he and her mother were once just friends too.
Lovers reunited and Agent Odell’s escape in ‘Black Lightning’ season 3 episode 11
Anissa and her girlfriend Grace Choi reunite outside of Freeland. Grace wants to come back to Freeland, however, and tries to convince Anissa to let her go back with her. Grace thinks she’s figured out why she couldn’t control her shapeshifting: abandonment issues, but she now knows she’s not alone. Next in season 3 episode 11 of Black Lightning, Peter Gambi visits Lynn Stewart.
He remarks that she seems unhealthy and she is offended at first. Gambi asks Lynn for some medicine to help heal TC, the teenager from the pod who is staying with him. Lynn agrees to give it to him, but only if he gives her access to the Pit. Meanwhile, Odell and the ASA’s Major talk about the catastrophes they’re dealing with: namely the resistance lead by Black Lightning and Blackbird and Jennifer switching sides.
The Major suggests that they use Tobias Whale to stabilize the remaining metahumans and Odell agrees. Sergeant Grayle comes to see Lynn and gives her back her bag. He also agrees to help her break out Tobias to stop Odell from using him to stabilize the metahumans. Lynn plans to test a serum that temporarily gives metahuman powers to others on herself, but Grayle volunteers.
Jefferson and Anissa go after Odell. Meanwhile, TC tells Gambi that Lady Eve tried to kill him. Jefferson/Black Lightning and Anissa/Thunder find Odell and take him to a secure location. Jennifer suits up as Lightning and goes to join her father and sister, where she finally finds out that Khalil/Painkiller is under the control of the ASA.
Meanwhile, Lynn sneaks into the Pit and helps Tobias get out, giving him invisibility powers to do so. Jennifer manages to subdue Khalil/Painkiller, but Odell gets away and then Khalil is taken to Gambi’s, where TC reveals that he loves Jennifer. At the Pit, Lynn punches Tobias, having given herself super strength, and Grayle comes to pick them up. Grayle and Lynn are then knocked out by a Markovian who calls for a teleporter.
Burning questions about ‘Black Lightning’
Black Lightning season 3 episode 11 leaves fans with some questions. Considering these questions might lead to figuring out where the show is going. One question to think about is: will TC be able to undo Khalil’s Painkiller programming? Or will Jennifer be the one to save her ex-boyfriend?
Who will lead the ASA now that Agent Odell is gone? Did Brandon really confirm he’s a Markovian superhero? And when will Freeland go back to normal, if indeed it ever will? There are many possible directions the show could go in with answering these questions.
TC might have already done or will soon undo Khalil’s programming by the ASA. However, there’s also the possibility that his powers will not be up to the task and that therefore Jennifer will be the one to save Khalil. The major who was Odell’s right-hand woman might lead the ASA. Or without Odell, the organization might fall apart.
When going through possible superhero names, Brandon did finally land on Geo-Force, which means he could very well be a Markovian superhero. Or he could just be a tribute to the DC Comics character with the same codename. Freeland might go back to normal eventually, once the threat of Markovia is dealt with. Or the town may never be the same.
