Ryan Reynolds trolled Hugh Jackman

The couple decided to donate to charitable organizations in the U.S. and Canada. Reynolds posted about the donation on Twitter and Instagram, and in doing so trolled his friend Hugh Jackman.

“I think we can all agree, Covid-19 is an a**hole. If you can help, visit, http://FeedingAmerica.org and/or http://FoodBanksCanada.ca,” Reynolds wrote in a tweet.

The tweet included a photo of a message which read:

“Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and love income families. Blake and I are donating $1 million to be split between FEEDING AMERICA and FOOD BANKS CANADA. If you can give, these orgs need our help. Take care of your bodies and hearts. Leave room for joy. Call someone who’s isolated and might need connection. Hugh Jackman’s # is 1-555-(crying emoji)-HUGH.”

Blake Lively also shared the message

Lively shared the news of her donation with Reynolds and encouraged others to donate on Instagram. Instead of poking fun at Jackman, she joked about her husband in her message.

“Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families. Ryan & I are donating $1 million to be split between @feedingamerica and @foodbankscanada. If you can give, these orgs need our help,” her message read.

She continued, “Though we must be distancing ourselves to protect those who don’t have the opportunity to self quarantine, we can stay connected. Remember the lonely and isolated. Facetime, Skype, make a video. Remember the love that can travel through all this. Communities are stepping up— shopping for the elderly, making lunches for children. We can all do something for one another, even if that’s simply staying home.”

At the end of the message, Lively joked about her husband.

“Sending so much love. Now can someone please tell Ryan that ’emotional distancing’ from his mother in law is not a thing. Nothing can save him.”

How the couple’s donation helped

After Lively and Reynolds revealed their donation, Dan Nisbet, the vice president of Major Gifts at Feeding America told Variety how much the donations help others.

“We are so grateful for Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s extremely generous donation, and for all of the donations we’ve been receiving,” said Nisbet. “The Feeding America network of 200 food banks is working tirelessly to aid and provide meal assistance to our most vulnerable neighbors — children, the elderly, families struggling with food insecurity and individuals facing job disruptions — throughout our nation during this unprecedented time. Generosity like theirs will make all the difference.”

The official Instagram account for Feeding America commented on Lively’s post, writing, “This is incredible. Blake and Ryan, your gift means so much to us and the millions of people we serve. And to everyone who you inspire to give during these uncertain times – every dollar and minute makes a difference.”
