Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson Net Worth: Which Coach on ‘The Voice’ Is Worth More?
There are more ties between Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson than most people think. Apart from starring on NBC’s hit singing competition, The Voice, Shelton and Clarkson have been good friends for over 10 years. The country crooner’s manager is also Clarkson’s husband. But who has the higher net worth?
Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton bond on The Voice
Clarkson first appeared on The Voice in season 14 and from the start had playful back-and-forth with Shelton. At the beginning of the season, for instance, Clarkson bet Shelton that she would win that year.
If she did, Shelton would have to refer to her as “Queen Kelly,” while Shelton said that if he won Clarkson would be forced to “shut up for five minutes.” Clarkson won The Voice that year and did not let Shelton forget their bet.
The following season, Kelly Clarkson demanded a change in the seating arrangement because she wanted some space between her and Blake Shelton. Jennifer Hudson obliged, and an extra seat was put between the old friends.
According to Country Rebel, Clarkson playfully opened up about her demands that year, informing Hudson that, after over a decade of friendship, she just needed a little space from the country crooner.
“I don’t want to sit next to Blake,” Clarkson shared. “I’ve been with Blake for like over a decade. You’ve only had him for one season.”
Shelton and Clarkson love each other
Despite all of their playful bickering, Clarkson has admitted that she totally loves Blake Shelton. Aside from knowing the country star for a long time, Clarkson explained that she appreciates how much he fights for his artists.
“He really wants to push for his artists, he really wants them to have a career afterward,” she stated. “I love that.”
Although the two clearly share a tight bond, they do not always see eye to eye on things.
This year, for example, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson were supposed to sing a Christmas duet on The Voice. But their joint performance fell through the cracks, with Clarkson claiming that Shelton just did not want to do it.
Shelton denied not wanting to sing with Clarkson and joked that he simply did not like the song selection. He refused to reveal what song he was supposed to sing, though he did hint that it was the 1992 track, “Breath of Heaven (Mary’s Song).”
Clarkson ended up singing an updated version of the Christmas classic, “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” with John Legend which received mixed reviews from fans.
What is Blake Shelton’s net worth?
Long before he appeared on The Voice, Shelton had built an impressive career in country music. The bulk of Shelton’s vast fortune comes from his music career, though he has made money from The Voice and a variety of business ventures.
Over the course of his long career, Blake Shelton has had 26 number one tracks, and that number will likely continue to rise. He has also sold over 10 million albums and has been on a country-wide tour nine times.
He also gets paid handsomely for his part on The Voice. Shelton has been with the series since the very beginning and is showing no signs of stopping.
Between all of his different revenue streams, it is difficult to pin down an exact number for Shelton’s net worth. According to Country Living, some estimates put his fortune as high as $80 million, while others claim it is around $31.5 million.
Either way, Blake Shelton has earned enough for a comfortable living.
How does Kelly Clarkson compare?
Out of all of the winners of American Idol, Clarkson is among the most successful. The singer has signed multiple deals in the music industry and made around $3 million for each of the albums she released with RCA Records.
While Clarkson is now under Atlantic Records, she still tours the country and is having a blast making music.
She was reportedly offered $14 million to appear on The Voice, though NBC has never confirmed those rumors. Her husband, Brandon, is also a manager and is believed to be worth around $5 million.
A few years ago, the couple put their estate in Tennessee on the market for $8.7 million. They originally purchased the home for $2.8 million, which is a really good turnover.
In total, Kelly Clarkson is reportedly worth just shy of $30 million. Although she does not equal Blake Shelton, she still has plenty of time to catch up.
