Blake Shelton Revealed the Gwen Stefani Song That Makes Him Say ‘Oh My God’ Every Time He Listens
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have released a handful of songs together since they began their relationship. The couple admires one another’s solo music as well. Shelton said that he has many songs he admires by Stefani. There’s one that particularly stands out, though.
Blake Shelton revealed 1 Gwen Stefani song he loves
When asked which of his wife’s songs he liked best, Shelton said he had a number of favorites. It was hard for him to pick just one.
“There’s some good ones,” he said on Taste of Country Nights (via American Songwriter). “I’m not just saying that.”
He first pointed to the song “Hella Good” from No Doubt’s 2001 album Rock Steady.
“Every time I hear it, it’s like, ‘Oh my God.’”
Shelton likes another song from that No Doubt album.
“She had a song called ‘Hey Baby,’” he said. “That one still stands out.”
Gwen Stefani shared her favorite Blake Shelton song
Stefani also said she loved many of Shelton’s songs.
“He’s done so much music,” Stefani said. “There’s a song called ‘Mine Would Be You.’ I love that. I was like, ‘God, that song’s so good.’ But there’s so many good ones. He’s written some amazing songs.”
She said that she likes being with a songwriter because he writes about her. She has written about people in her life, and now she has the opportunity to experience the other side of things.
“He wrote a song about me, [and] it was really fun to have someone write a song ‘cause I’ve written so many songs about people,” she said. “But then to have one written about you is pretty exciting.”
The couple wrote a song together early in their relationship
Early in their relationship, Shelton reached out to Stefani about writing a song together. She believed this was his way of impressing her, as she places a high value on songwriting.
“I think he really wanted to impress me, because he doesn’t really write songs as much as he used to. And I love writing songs,” she told People. “That’s everything to me. If I want to feel like I have any kind of purpose or any kind of value or anything, it’s about writing a song. That’s where I get my fulfillment.”
They wrote the song “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” together. It helped bring them closer together.
“He sent it to me, and it was a half-written song. He was like, ‘Help me finish this.’ So I wrote him the verse back — the second verse on the song — and it’s just over text,” she says. “That was our first song that we ever wrote together. We were never even in the same room, but we were writing a song to each other.”
Stefani said she would like to see Shelton write more songs in the future.
