Blake Shelton Once Said He Didn’t Need to Spoil Gwen Stefani for Mother’s Day
On Mother’s Day, Blake Shelton said he took a backseat to Gwen Stefani’s children. When asked what he was going to do to spoil his wife and the mother of his three stepchildren, Shelton said he didn’t have plans. He shared why he didn’t think he’d have to do much for the day.
Blake Shelton said Gwen Stefani didn’t need him to spoil her on Mother’s Day
When asked what he had planned for Mother’s Day, Shelton said Stefani’s three sons, Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo, had it covered.
“You know what? I don’t have to, because her sons have been incredible,” he said, per People. “They’re like, no, no, no. We’ve already thought about it. We’re going to make breakfast for her.”
He said the three boys had always been good at taking care of their mother.
“I always can kind of just take a back seat and watch these boys,” he said. “They do an incredible job spoiling her.”
Blake Shelton has a solid relationship with Gwen Stefani’s children
Shelton does not have biological children, but he has built a good relationship with Stefani’s children. He said he’s learned a lot from them.
“They’ve taught me something about myself that I never knew: I’m more than just a country singer or a goofy guy,” he told People. “I’m someone they actually lean on, and that’s not a responsibility that I ever had and not something that I ever considered even being into.”
He added that he’s gained a new type of self-worth from his relationship with them.
“It’s a different kind of self-worth,” he said. “Maybe it’s the opposite of self-worth because you put yourself way down on the rung, and they move up ahead of you.”
Part of the reason Shelton stepped away from The Voice as a coach was to spend more time with Stefani and the children.
“You don’t know what your regrets are going to be until you look back one day,” he said. “I feel like my regrets would be, if I stayed on this path, that I am missing out on some more important things in life — and for now, that’s our kids.”
She’s glad her relationship has allowed them to get away from LA
Stefani and Shelton live on a ranch in Oklahoma, so her sons split their time between there and their father Gavin Rossdale’s Los Angeles home.
“Blake has a very close bond with all the boys,” a source told Us Weekly. “He loves taking them out to farm on the ranch with him, and they spend almost all of their free time together. It makes Gwen feel so much joy seeing how close they all are.”
Stefani reportedly loves that her children get to experience life outside of a major city.
“Gwen loves that the boys [now] have that experience in their childhood,” the source continued.
Stefani said she initially had a hard time adjusting to life in Oklahoma, but she has come to love it.
