Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been together since 2015. Their romance raised her fans’ eyebrows, but she said they had more in common than people may think. The couple bonded over music and their faith. Shelton said that being with Stefani has deepened his religious beliefs. He said the circumstances of their meeting also wouldn’t have made sense without God.

According to Shelton, Stefani’s religious beliefs have inspired him to strengthen his own. He said he has come to believe that the way they came together makes little sense without a belief in God. Both were going through divorces at the same time and bonded as they navigated their respective heartbreaks.

“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” Shelton told The Tennessean. “The biggest part of that is just how (Gwen) came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”

He said she convinced him to start attending church regularly. Shelton built a private chapel on their Oklahoma ranch, and the couple married in it.

Stefani also believes that God put Shelton in her life. She said she could hardly believe it when he came into her life after her divorce.

“Something that I wanted since I was a little girl is to be married and have this love that I saw my parents have and have babies,” she told People. “That dream was completely ruined; it was crushed, and I had to figure out how I was going to move forward and make a new dream, and God putting Blake in my life was just that miracle.”

She spoke about her faith

Stefani said that after she ended her relationship with Gavin Rossdale, she found comfort in her religious beliefs. 

“For me, I was turning to my faith right away,” she told Today. “That was a seed that my mom planted in me when I was a little girl … it’s a journey. It’s almost like you get lost, it’s like you get lost on your journey. We all do and we all will and I will again at some point I’m sure.”
